Starting this Saturday, we've got a beginner's series on each 3rd Saturday of the month at 9:00 am in the downstairs (rm 2 & 3) of the W. Dale Clark Library. We're covering such topics as: Jan: Getting started, the basics of who, what, where, when, then what do I do with it? Feb: Black History month, researching for slave ancestors Mar: Using a FHC & vital records & substitutes for vital records Apr: Using census records & probate records May: The name game: making sense of typical name alternatives, and some ideas on how names may have changed; also some basics on early handwriting interpretation Jun: Computing genealogy: using the library computer to find genealogy sources and to surf the web, also genealogy mailing lists. Workshops are free, but pre-registration is required so that handouts can be prepared. You can call the Hx/Soc Sc desk at the W. Dale Clark library, or e- mail me if you plan to come. Karen
