>Is there any organization such as a Historical Society in Nebraska that does >old obituary lookups? Yes - NSHS will do them at about $5 each. See their website for details. You must supply name, specific date & location. They will figure out which newspapers were in the area at the time. Have lists by newspaper title with issues that were available and microfilmed. Alternative is to check for lookups at a local library or the library at the county seat. Donation & SASE is expected. Another possibility, the local Historical or Genealogical Society may have files of the newspapers, or do lookups from microfilm. These places usually request only $2-3 as donation per obit. Please include SASE. If a copy of the original is important to you, please specify that! Many of the local places do NOT have a microfilm reader that will make copies - don't have a copy machine on the premises either. In that case - NSHS is your research place! Ted & Carole Miller
