Added today to Lancaster Co., Nebraska on the Scrapbook section are several letters from a man in Lincoln, Nebraska to a lady in Creston, IA where he came from originally. Submitted by Linda (Ewin) Ziemann In Linda's own words: Letters written to Grace Madden who lived near Creston, Iowa. Letters dated from July 1911 – December 24, 1919 Letters were written by W. L. (Lester) Ewing to his friend, Grace. Grace Madden was born 14 Jul 1899. William L. (Lester) Ewing was born 17 Jun 1890. This Lester was William L. Ewing, son of John William Ewing and Mary F. Benton. Lester would have been a first cousin to my Grandfather, Charles E. Ewin, son of Mathew Ewin. Mathew Ewin and John William Ewing were brothers. Yes, they each spelled that last name differently, but they were brothers! I gladly transcribe these letters and share them with any Lancaster County researchers. The letters and notes have been transcribed just as Lester wrote them. No corrections have been made in punctuation or grammar. Thank you, Grace Madden, for keeping these letters and thanks to Jesse, her daughter, for finding them and sharing them with our family! ……………Linda (Ewin) Ziemann http://www.rootsweb.com/~nelancas/misc/index.htm http://www.rootsweb.com/~nelancas/misc/letters-past.htm Thank you, Kathie Harrison Lancaster Co.
