Hi John, I can only speak for Buffalo County, where, incidentally, there are/were Fialas. The county didn't register births previous to 1904 -- and in a number of cases not until many years later. E.g., my mother's birth in 1909 was never registered. So there are no Buffalo County birth records prior to 1904 at the county or state level. Marriage records for Buffalo County are on file at the court house from the early beginnings of county government. The Trails and Rails Museum has them also, in their archives, which the Fort Kearny Gen. Soc. uses to do look-ups, etc. I don't know the cost at the court house, but I can give you the name of a volunteer who will do a look-up for you. :-) Death records -- I don't know. I haven't looked, nor have I asked. If you are interested, or haven't already done so, please visit the Buffalo County NEGenWeb Project site at http://www.rootsweb.com/~nebuffal scroll down to the search engine box and enter "Fiala" Happy New Year!
