My husband's Bohemian ancestors came from Koryta, Plzen, Bohemia circa 1866, first settling in Braidwood, Will Co, IL. They later moved to Saunders County, Nebraska. His great-great grandfather was Frank SOUKUP, b 4 July 1852 in Koryta and who married Anna BEZNOSKA ca 1873 in Saunders County, Nebraska. Anna's family was from Beroun, Bohemia, and lived in Cleveland, Ohio before moving to Nebraska. Most of the SOUKUP's later moved to Oklahoma, although some of them later moved back to Fillmore County, Nebraska. Frank was said to be the son of Anton Soukup. Frank's mother, Marie, appeared to have been married twice. Her maiden name is unknown, but *might* be BURES(H). Her first husband was a ZAKOVIC. By that husband, she had a son and daughter. Her daughter, Anna ZAKOVIC, married a HINES(H). Marie next married Anton SOUKUP,Sr.. They had three children, Anton SOUKUP, Jr., Frank SOUKUP, and Veronika SOUKUP who married a VIRKA. I found an Anton Saml. SOOCOP on the 1880 Census for Saunders County. He was shows as age 75, and married to a 78 year old Rosy, also born in Bohemia. I am not They lived near my Frank and Anna SOOCOP; and assume they are Frank's parents. I am not sure why the wife is named Rosy. Maybe Anton remarried? Maybe she was Rosy Marie? Would love to exchange notes with anyone researching these families.
