Hi All, Just a quick note to let you now that the server that has hosted all 9000+ pages of my various sites is failing and will be going down shortly probably. This includes the Livingston County MI site, the 1895 atlas and the Chase County Nebraska and the books of the MARDOS Memorial Library. Thankfully Charly Caldwell II has come forth again and will be the total sponsor of these sites so they do not have to be taken off the net. Without his immense help this project would never have gotten off the ground and again he has saved it. Btw...the Library will soon be moving to its own domain name and hopefully much easier to surf to find transcribed books for the various states at www.MemorialLibrary.com the link is already active and has a link back to the old site until the pages are moved. As a result of these changes some of the pages may or may not be available for up to several hours at various times as I am moving all the pages. The largest change will be with the atlas which I have spent hundreds and hundreds of hours redoing the entire project. I hope you like the changes and I am sure you will like the resized maps to make downloading faster. While I have not tested a lot of them it appears the download time has gone to less than half of the original time. Could they be faster? Perhaps, I have had numerous posts over the years telling me to do this or that, but in the majority of cases the integrity of the maps declined and I did not feel that was a good idea. While I have had a few nay sayers over the years about the size of them the are not even a speck compared to the compliments about having the maps available. One nice thing coming up is PBS will be using one of the maps in an uncoming presentation about the Illinois area. There are also some more neat maps that were never put up for this project that I will be adding in the process. Please make sure that IF you wish to contact me to update your address books to my new addy below as the [email protected] addy will not work soon. Hopefully everyone also changed the links that they have on their sites to the old, old, ismi domain have also changed them to the LivGenMI, ChaseNEgw and MemorialLibrary urls, because as I also redo the pages I am removing all the files off the old server.
