    1. Help, before the vandals move across the river...
    2. Are there any people in the Omaha area who have some free time and would be able to help with reading some of the cemeteries we're working on? With the vandalism in Council Bluffs damaging 85 stones in 2 cemeteries, those of us working on it are getting a little antsy about getting stuff read quickly (but well.) Let me or Merrily (_Mavmom18@aol.com_ (mailto:Mavmom18@aol.com) ) or Karen (_Kjackson@radiks.net_ (mailto:Kjackson@radiks.net) ) know if you've got time and are willing to help by taking a section, or even joining us while we're out there and reading a row or two. (Even a couple rows are a couple rows that we don't have to read ourselves.) In some of the cemeteries, we've even been given access to the databases that list who is in the section so we can add the names of those who DON'T have a stone and the interment date. Some of the newer cemeteries, it isn't hard work, except for possibly brushing a bit of grass off the stone. Some of the older cemeteries have some stones that really make us work for the information though, troweling accumulations of dirt away from the base to read some of it, or carefully cleaning the stone, or even "braille-reading". Or if you know a scout leader or youth leader who has a number of young folks interested in doing service projects--let them know about us. We really want to get as much done as possible before the idiots move across the river. Some of the cemeteries are well secured by gates & fences, some aren't--and some of the vandals are desperate enough to cause trouble that they want to try to climb the fences anyway. Karen
