    1. [NEBRRoots] State conference coming up.
    2. The Nebraska State Genealogical Society Conference April 30 & May 1 will be in Omaha this year at the Ramada on 72nd. (You might want to think about coming in a day early to do library research as an idea as well. The library is no longer open on Sundays because of budget cuts.) Dr. George Schweitzer is the keynote speaker for five of the talks and he does them as a historical reenactment, very knowledgeable, very entertaining, very funny at times as well. His topics: English Genealogical Research, Tracing Ancestors Back Across the Atlantic, North-South Colonial Migration Routes, Cherokee Genealogical Research (because we keep getting requests for those wanting Native American help and Cherokee is probably the most prevalent request), and Rivers to Trails to Roads to Canals to Trains. We also have a presentation on preservation of our family heirlooms from the Stuhr Museum, and from Jeff Kappeler from the Nebraska Humanities group is doing a presentation on what our ancestors would have brought with them as they immigrated. People who attended the conference last year will get flyers, as will all the Nebraska genealogy societies, western Iowa, and some of the SD, MO & KS societies that aren't very far away. For any out there that weren't in Hastings last year for Cindi Howells, you can email pmasek@cox.net and ask for a flyer(s) to be sent. They'll be going out in the next couple days...so contact her right away if you want a conference flyer. You don't need to be a member of the Nebraska State Genealogical Society to attend the conference, but it is a bit cheaper if you are. Karen
