    3. Hi everyone, I would like to announce that we have the last chapter all transcribed, coded and posted for "The History of the State of Nebraska", A. T. Andreas, pub. (1882) It is a part of the Kansas Collection Cutler's/Andreas Histories section. Andreas "History of Nebraska" is a great resource for anyone who is researching genealogy or history in Nebraska. We have had many volunteers working on it, and they have all done a great job of getting this wonderful reference online for all of us. I want to extend my thanks to all of the volunteers who have worked on this huge project. We decided very early on to transcribe this book as it was published in 1882, including the inevitable typos and errors. Genealogists need to remember that this is a 'secondary' resource and anything that you find in it needs to be checked out for verification. Use it as a starting point for further research. The family and biographical information was gathered by various people and resources in 1882. Some of the biogrpaphies are obviously written by family members. Others look as if they were gathered by the use of a form. It's fun to just read through some of the bios, since many of them include more history on the county and state, along with the family information. Alice Vosika completed transcribing the York County chapter last week, and I finished the html just before leaving on a weekend trip. Settlement first began in the county in 1861, when the Territorial Road was located from Nebraska City to a point 40 miles east of Kearney. You will be able to read all about the early history of the county, plus the history of the settlement of the early towns of the county at: http://www.ukans.edu/carrie/kancoll/andreas_ne/ Take a moment and check out our sister book that is also posted in the Kansas Collection: http://kuhttp.cc.ukans.edu/carrie/kancoll/andcutl.htm Enjoy!!
