December 9, 2003 How to Develop an Oral History Insight into creating a successful interview, do's and don'ts; suggestions for recording, questions to ask; kinds of equipment; length of interview, etc. Presenter: Barb Sommer January 13, 2004 Exciting DNA Tools for Genealogy - DNA has become a tool for linking your family history. Some LLCGS members will share their experiences with using this tool in their search. Presenters: Sharon Sawyer, Dewaine Alcorn, Jan Jensen. February 10, 2004 Unusual Discoveries in the Ancestry Search - Meeting Dates & Programs for the Lincoln-Lancaster County Genealogical Society 2003-2004 Unusual sources or methods of research will be discussed by members. Presenters: Panel March 9, 2004 World War II - I remember the home front - Review of essays by members written about their experiences "at home" in the United States during WW II as well as the experiences of the presenters. Presenters: Beth Haring, Evelyn Young, Ron Gaddis April 13, 2004 World War II - Experiences of a Survivor - A great follow-up for the previous month and just in time for Holocaust Remembrance Day. Dr. Louis Leviticus, a Holocaust survivor, will present his experiences as an overseas "participant" in the war. May 11, 2004 The Other Censuses: State Censuses as Sources for Research - Many states prior to becoming a state collected census data. What is in them for you? Presenter: Eva Bachman June 8, 2004 Indian Wars (1812-1817) & War of 1812: History & Records - Did you stop researching your veterans at the Civil War? Here is another source to consider for earlier ancestors. July 13, 2004 Regional Resources for Researching - A review of what institutions and resources are available in the region to conduct research for family history. What local resource have you missed? August 10, 2004 Using Cemeteries/Mortuaries/Obituaries - Have you looked in every "death" record/resource in the area you are researching? This presentation will cover some of the "hidden" information you may find. Presenters: Ron Gaddis, Eva Bachman September 14, 2004 Volunteering for sake of the Hobby: What can I do? - Members who have served as volunteer in genealogical/historical societies will discuss the benefits, need and opportunities available. Presenter: Panel October 12, 2004 Genealogy & Photography: Old Methods, Current Techniques & Future Possibilities - Our "resident expert", Dick Young, will discuss photography in family research. November 9, 2004 Nebraska Artists as Historians - Fred Hoppe is well-known for his bronze sculptures. His work has memorialized veterans, historic people, presidents and animals through his work. He is the founder of the Veterans Memorial Museum in Branson, Missouri. December 14, 2004 How Did Nebraskans Live 150 years ago? - A "snapshot in time" will be presented with a view of the national, state and county histories. What was it like to live in Nebraska in 1853?
