I'm pleased to announce that the biographical sketches from Volume II of Samuel Clay Bassett's Buffalo County, Nebraska, and Its People are now on-line. The sketches, about 375 in number, contain nearly 1000 surnames. There is an index to the articles, and I've added an every-surname index as well. If you have roots in Buffalo County, or nearby areas of Sherman, Custer, Hall, Dawson or Kearney Counties, you'll want to check this out. This is the companion to Volume I which has the general history of the county. This is not only a fascinating read, but it discusses the early settlement of each township, and lists club, church and lodge charter members and current (1916) officers.
