Hi, I just found a site that lists the land patents for Buffalo County, Nebraska. These are the first purchases of a piece of land -- later transactions are not listed. I haven't poked around the whole site, yet, but if you go here http://www.buffalogov.org/ and click on "Record of Deeds", you can follow the links to see if your ancestor is listed, and what the legal description of the property is.
