Do you have a Civil War soldier buried in Nebraska? I have the list that has been compiled to date, but we keep finding more that aren't on the list. If you have someone that you know where they were buried, or have someone that you think might have served in the Civil War and don't know where they are buried, contact me. We are also collecting funeral cards for the W. Dale Clark Library. When we get enough, we'll put them alphabetized into notebooks at the library. (We've got a nice collection from out around Loop City already.) There is a donor who is giving up to $100 a month to the library for every funeral card/program that we get that isn't already in the collection. Many of these have the cemetery information on them, although not all do. If you don't mind making copies and sending them to us, or sending us duplicates you might have (no matter where you're from & they're from--though if they are outside of NE, please indicate where they were from on the card), we would love to have them in the collection. G.O.G.S., P O Box 4011, Omaha, NE 68104 There will be a master index & when I get some more of the names, I'll post it. Karen

Thanks to Carol Tramp and the kind folks in the clerk's office of the Cedar County Courthouse, I now have photocopies of the Cedar County marriage index through the mid-1930s. I will be transcribing these pages and posting them as fast as I can. Currently, the groom's index for 'A' surnames and their brides by surname are available. The file will be large and getting larger as I enter names, but once the names are in, this file will be divided into multiple pages for easier use. I'll keep you posted on the progress. The time to register for the Annual Conference for Nebraska State Genealogical Society at the reduced pre-registration rate is almost gone. Pre-registrations have to be postmarked by the 15th to save a few dollars. Keynote speaker is Dr. George Schweitzer who does historic re-enactment as a teaching tool with his classes. For a flier, email Mavmom18@aol.com and she will mail one out to you. There is going to be a private reception at the W. Dale Clark Library on Friday night for the conference attendees--a chance to look over the collection, possibly do a bit of quick research...but you have to be a conference attendee to come. Karen

Well, I finally got it finish my Morrill County NEGenWeb Project website have an "all new" look and design. The site is ready for all to view at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~nemorril/index.html I have re-organized many of the links to seven general links that make search much easier to locate with ease. I have added many "new" items that wasn't there before. And I am still having to do my on-going project of transcribing the 1910 census records. I finally got written permission from Mrs. Ruth Browning Rice for her publication in 1981 & 1993 of the Rose Hill Cemetery. I will be adding those publication online soon. I have gotten a bunch of new photos in the cemeteries section where I have another completed cemetey project done of the Silverthorne Cemetery near South Broadwater. Silverthorne was once a P.O. location, with any old school house. If you link on the "records/history" you will find all that available records and history of your ancestors in this link. These are a few of my sub-links on this page... [Cemteries] [Census] [History] [Maps & Place Names] [Military] [Newspaper] [Obituaries] [Photo Album] [Precincts & Townships] [Queries & Surnames] [Schools]. If you have more information to add to these data. Please contact me at NEMorrill@yahoo.com about what you may have to add. In my "contacts" link is anyone to contacts of Morrill County and surrounding area for research information. My "lists" link is where I keep all my Morrill County Rootsweb messageboard and mailing list links available for further research. And I added some Nebraska links too. The "resources" links is where you will find what resources that can be available outside our Morrill County NEGenWeb Project website. There are added Morrill County links, NEGenWeb Project links, USGenWeb Project links, and other web links. Well the rest of the links are pretty much self explanatory. I hope to add more as time goes and PLEASE send me your comments, suggestions, or grief <VBG>. Hope to hear from you soon. Matt Matthew D. Added today to Lancaster Co., Nebraska on the Scrapbook section are several letters from a man in Lincoln, Nebraska to a lady in Creston, IA where he came from originally. Submitted by Linda (Ewin) Ziemann In Linda's own words: Letters written to Grace Madden who lived near Creston, Iowa. Letters dated from July 1911 – December 24, 1919 Letters were written by W. L. (Lester) Ewing to his friend, Grace. Grace Madden was born 14 Jul 1899. William L. (Lester) Ewing was born 17 Jun 1890. This Lester was William L. Ewing, son of John William Ewing and Mary F. Benton. Lester would have been a first cousin to my Grandfather, Charles E. Ewin, son of Mathew Ewin. Mathew Ewin and John William Ewing were brothers. Yes, they each spelled that last name differently, but they were brothers! I gladly transcribe these letters and share them with any Lancaster County researchers. The letters and notes have been transcribed just as Lester wrote them. No corrections have been made in punctuation or grammar. Thank you, Grace Madden, for keeping these letters and thanks to Jesse, her daughter, for finding them and sharing them with our family! ……………Linda (Ewin) Ziemann http://www.rootsweb.com/~nelancas/misc/index.htm http://www.rootsweb.com/~nelancas/misc/letters-past.htm Thank you, Kathie Harrison Lancaster Co.
