    1. Genealogy Tip for the day and search for funeral cards
    2. From the book: 365+1 Genealogy Tips: Display only copies of original photos, documents, etc. Put originals in a safe place using acid free storage materials. Exposure to ight can also damage precious old materials. If you are interested in getting a copy of this book--contact Mavmom18@aol.com for cost & shipping. If you live in Omaha & surrounding communities, you can arrange to get a copy delivered rather than mailed. Reminder: We are working on getting a collection of funeral cards at the W. Dale Clark Library (from anywhere.) If you have duplicates--or don't mind making copies for us, we'd love to have them. There is a donor that is willing to give the library $1 (up to $100 per month) for each one that isn't duplicated. If the location of funeral (or a burial place) isn't given, please write it on if known. We have them from as far away as Pennsylvania. What we have is being indexed at present. You can mail them to G.O.G.S., P O Box 4011, Omaha, NE 68104 or drop them off at the 3rd floor (put them in the desk drawer in the genealogy book room) of the W. Dale Clark Library--or if you live in Omaha and don't want to go downtown, you can drop them at any of the Omaha branch libraries & ask them to route them downtown to the genealogy department. 11 states complete through1930 now, and closing in on #12.

    1. WASIELEWSKI & KEZEOR (or KIZIOR)
    2. Laura Anderson
    3. Hi Everyone, Frank WASIELEWSKI was born abt 1874 in Chicago, Illinois to Lorenz and Elizabeth (Kilichoska) Wasielewski. Frank married Michalina MORACZEWSKI (daughter of Kazmierz Moraczewski and Magdalnea Korcz) in 1895. He was in Omaha in 1903, I think working at his brother John's saloon at 1738 S. 13th. The next year, in 1904, he was "Trucker U P". Was this probably the UP Railroad? Frank and Michalina had a daughter, Josey, who later married a JELINEK. His first wife died and Frank married in 1903 to Anna Kizeor (several spellings) at Posen (Farwell), in Howard County, Nebraska. I have no other children or information for Frank and Anna. Frank also had a sister Veronica Wasielewski, born 1876 at Chicago, and died 1942 at Farwell, Nebraska. She married Felix Kizeor about 1896. They had children Clara, Theresa, Harry, Longin, and Cecelia. Anybody related or know of these folks? Laura

    1. GALCZYNSKI, in Loup City and Ashton
    2. Laura Anderson
    3. Hello, I have been working on a "new" part of my family tree lately, and I wonder if anyone out there can help me with the Stanley GALCZYNSKI family. Stanislaus Galczynski was born Apr 1860 in Poland/Prussia (per the 1900 US Census for Ashton, Sherman County, NE) and died abt 22 Aug 1938 at Ashton. He was a saloon keeper and had a business in Ashton for quite some time. He married Francisca WASIELEWSKI on 18 Nov 1884 at Paplin, Howard County, Nebraska. She was the daughter of Lorenz & Elizabeth (KILICHOSKA) Wasielewski. Francisca was born 1866, and died after her husband. I don't know when or where she died. Stanley & Francisca Galczynski had the following children: Mike 1886-1967, m. Josie JEZEWSKI Lizzie 1887-1960 Louie 1889- ?, m. Frances WARDYN Francis Xavier 1890, died as infant Thomas 1892-1932, I think. Married Clara WASKOWIAK Harry 1894-1959 John 1895 - ? Albert ? - 1911 I know of no descendants for any of this family. Francisca Wasielewski was my gg-grandmother's sister. I have been looking in the Swiecie parish records (in Poland) on microfilm and have not found the birth of Francisca Wasielewski yet, or her siblings. I really do think that is the right place, though. I found scraps of info that lead me to believe this is where they were from. Thanks, Laura

    1. Gen Mothers Day Poem
    2. sarah rose
    3. This genealogy poem is my gift to everyone for Mother's Day. I think many of you will be able to relate to it. (My poetry has been published in 47 US States, and several other countries. ) My Poetry Website: http://users.rosenet.net/poetryandroses/ (This remains one of my favorite poems) MY ANCESTOR GRAND MOTHER I search for you yet do not even know your name I press on praying my efforts will prove fruitful the records do not list you or the other women who have lived and loved and laughed, gave birth, and died, the records perpetrate the myth that you were never here but I stand whole and bare my soul and vow to find you as I live I search for you in old records, in churches, at the Embassy, in small dimly lit rooms in the back of obscure libraries and archives and pour over barely readable handwritten ledgers with magnifying glass and flashlight I live on mainly toast these days there isn't time for meals or much sleep feeling as I always do, on the very brink of discovery Perhaps THIS will be the day I find the one seemingly insignificant clue, which will lead me to you although I did not find you listed in the Census Records I am not deterred, you may turn up yet, on an Immigration or Naturalization list somewhere perhaps, or maybe tucked away inside some bank of vital statistics, long forgotten like so many others, your name having become lost over the long years Your name could be lying even now amidst the millions of documents stored and locked away safeguarded in the bowels of a giant warehouse all stopped up from apathetic crowds who have long ceased their visits your precious name, lying just inside a myriad of records packed in tight, packed in to stay never guessing I would come @Sarah Elizabeth Rose srose@rosenet.net

    3. I have learned that my distant cousin, Algot E. Rundquist, b. February 12, 1878 in Iowa, was a plumber in Wausa, Knox County, Nebraska in the 1920s. I'm wondering if anyone knows of any statewide plumber's union records in existance through which I could trace this cousin further. 3. Hi: Thanks to everyone who responded to my email yesterday and after reading them I realized I need to share additional information as well as make a clarification. My Dad, Dennis Roy {BRUNS} Greiner, was born in Omaha, NE and his step-father Glenn Greiner owned a watch shop in Chappel, NE. My Dad was adopted by his step-father and then I was adopted by my step-father. Hence where I am running into the brick wall of accessing any information regarding my Dad has the records are sealed to me because technically my Dad is not my Dad according to the laws But biologically he is. I hope this helps.......... Anyone who can share further assistance would be greatly appreciated. Candi

    1. Wasielewski in South Omaha
    2. Laura Anderson
    3. 1738 S. 13th .... This was the address of a saloon & residence in the 1903-1906 Omaha City Directories for my gg-grandmother's brother John WASIELEWSKI and family. He had a wife Mary (HURT) and children Mary, Sophia, Anna, Vernie, Amelia and John N. Does anyone know what might be at this address today? I would like to find out if the children survived and married and had children of their own. John Wasielewski died abt 14 Sep 1905 in Omaha. I don't know where he was buried yet. In 1905, his children ranged in age from 7 to 24, if they all were still living. According to the 1900 census, six children were alive: Mary b. 1881 Sophia b. 1883 Anna b. 1886 Vernie b. 1888, m. John NUTOWC, 1907 at St. Wenceslaus in Omaha Amelia b. 1893 John b. 1897 They might have been married at St. Wenceslaus in Omaha, since Vernie was married there. But I really have no idea when. Vernie married in 1907, but three of her sisters were several years older... I found no record of their marriages in Sherman County, where the family lived before they went to Omaha. Are there any marriage indices for Omaha catholic churches? Might I write to the Archdiocese archives? Has anyone done this? Any other ideas? Where can I write without knowing the marriage date?? Thanks very much, Laura

    1. Need Help
    2. Candi Hewitt
    3. Hi: I am hoping someone out there can help me with a real dilemma I am experiencing. I would like to obtain a copy of my Dad's birth certificate {original and adoptive one}, his Mother's first marriage certificate and second marriage one. But because my Dad was adopted and then I was adopted these records are sealed from me. I have written a letter to the Lincoln County Court and the judge wrote back first stated I needed to make a request to the Bureau of Vital Statistics and if unsuccessful there I would need to make an application to the court. It was also suggested I contact an attorney for assistance with this. I live in Canada and the expense of doing this would be something we could not afford. In the letter from the judge he also stated, "...the Court is prohibited from releasing of adoption information, except as allowed in 43-135 R.R.S. 1943. What is this citation? Can anyone do a look up for me regarding what it exactly says? I keep trying to find someone related to this family who can apply for such information but as of yet have been unable to locate anyone. Any advice, help anything in this matter would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks in advance!! Candi

I have visited the Knox County GenWeb site and have been in touch with Thabor Lutheran Church in Wausa, where I have received quite a bit of information.
