    3. Richard, The Swedes have documented all moves and births in their Parishes. Also the Immigration CD from Sweden will tell you everyone who traveled on the same contract to America. Some Swedish mail-lists will do look-ups on the immigration CD. This should tell you Matthew's wife's name. Here're a couple URLs to check out: http://www.smultron.com/ http://195.67.10.227/genea/default.htm > Hi: > I am in need of any help on Matthew Peterson born in Sweden. Since Rudolph married a lady from Michigan I would suspect that he and Albert were in that area after they came to the US. I do not know the grnadmothers names. Dick

If Swedish, the parishes were required to send in annual reports of who left their parish headed for where. I found a step-grandmother that way when all I knew was that she was from Blekinge, and a year she came over. These records are available on microfilm from the LDS Family History Centers. If all you have is a year, it might take you awhile to weed through the records, but it is possible. If you know from the census that he was naturalized, try to get the Declaration of Intent (First papers) on his citizenship. They usually will give a lot of information on where an immigrant was from, etc. (Not the actual granting of citizenship...which is nice for sentiment, but usually gives little or no genealogical data.) There are quite a few possibilities here. I haven't done Danish or very much Norwegian to know if there are similar records for those countries, but there may be for Norway because Sweden ruled Norway for awhile. Karen

    1. [NEBRRoots-L] BROWN in Webster Co.
    2. Charles S. BROWN and wife, Phebe J. CAREY homesteaded in Blue Hill, Webster Co. (Patent record, 1881) , coming from Kalamazoo Co. in Michigan where their 3 sons were born, Willard, Luther, and John C. Evidently Phebe died in Blue Hill, as Charles went back to Michigan and remarried in 1899. Son Luther was also back in Michigan by 1902. We believe Willard and John C. stayed, but have no track of them yet. Would like to find some record of when Phebe died, maybe find where and when she was born that way. Anyone have some idea?
