I recently saw on the Ontario's GenWEB Q & A page a reference to the immigration train that ran from Ontario to Nebraska. My ancestors moved to Nebraska during this time frame and I was wondering if they could have gone via this method. Does anyone know about the Immigration train? Or know where I could find about it. Thanks for the help. -- Ginni Morey mailto:gmorey@ix.netcom.com

I have a copy of a School and Friendship Book beginning with the Freshman Class of 1926-1927 and continuing through 1930. There are lots of interesting things (if you're from Ansley, Nebraska and interested in that time period) but one of them is a great snapshot of Coach Hays and the Basketball Team. There are also lists of plays produced and those who participated. I purchased this at an auction thinking someone from the Ansley area might like it. Let me know if interested. But, I had recently heard of him when my LYONS and MORROWs took me to search in KY, and so your information on him was not only interesting, but now I do want to know more about him, for people to think he was crazy, yet what zeal he demonstrated for a whole baby boom to be named after him. Yet, even Jesus family said, at first, of Jesus, at Mark 3:21 "He is out of his mind." I saw some other interesting items to go back to also and one of my favorite poems. Sorry cousin J.G.Whittier. Hi Everyone! Last week I got into a conversation on the Virginia Roots list about the circuit-riding preacher, Lorenzo Dow. Lots of us have a Lorenzo Dow 'Somebody' in our data. Since I have a lot of information about the 'original' Lorenzo Dow, they asked if I would post a web page about him. He was born in 1777 in Coventry, CT. Well, I ran home from work and put up the Lorenzo Dow page after supper! I hope you find it interesting. He was something! I can just see him jumping out of a church window onto a horse and riding away shouting that he would be back one year from the day! He did, too! The site is: http://www.acun.com/dentons The link to the article about Lorenzo Dow is about half way down the first page. I hope you enjoy the stories! Blessings! Sue Montgomery-Cook

Donald (smitty@snet.net), Nice web page! I am still learning and hope to have one also. I will be watching for your Dennis family information. My ancestor, Mary Frances Dennis, probably immigrated from Ireland about 1840 at the ago of four. Family lore says her mother died on the boat coming over. The first trace I have of her is in the 1870 US census in Plano, IL, and married to Isaac Pearson (Pierson). The 1900 US Census of Friend, Saline County, Nebraska, shows she immigrated to the US in 1867. There is some speculation she may have first immigrated to Canada and later to the US. She died 2/7/1908, but I don't know where or where she is buried though my first guess would be in Nebraska. However, I could not locate a death certificate there. I have a good deal of information about Isaac and their children, but I would dearly love to learn more about Mary Frances Dennis. Carolyn J. Bowers, Alexandria, VA

G'day to you "Good Lifer" researchers out there, This list has grown to the size of four hundred thirty five subscribers. This varies daily by five to ten; as folk are constantly subbing and unsubbing. Though RootsWeb has many automatic messages to assist me in administrating the List, I would point out a couple of things. RootsWeb filters are doing a tremendous job of keeping "spam" from hitting us. If you should receive one you may forward it [including ALL of the header] to <abuse@rootsweb.com>. However, I usually catch them and do this. RootsWeb Lists do not accept html coding; thus your messages, if containing html coding, will not go to the group. They will come to me and also are returned to sender with a note explaining this. This list has been one of the most courteous lists I belong to. The other two are also Nebraska oriented; the County Coordinators list and the Nebraska Heritage/Trivia list. It is truly a pleasure to belong to such fine groups. This list is for the purpose of researching Nebraksa genealogy, however, a mild amount of chat has been allowed, so long as the thread doesn't continue too long and folk keep it "light" with no personal slams. If you do get a bit off topic would you be courteous enough to place the letters "TOT" at the beginning of your subject line, then others would know that your message is "Totally Off Topic" and could simply delete it if they don't wish to read it. Able Administrator "PikeGirl" strongly recommends joining the NEBRHeritage-L group at <NEBRHeritage-L-request@rootsweb.com> [no subject and after turning off any signature, type the single word "subscribe" on the top line [without the quote marks]. That list receives posts concerning Nebraska Family History, as well as having an ongoing Nebraska Trivia game. My MOST WANTED this month is connections with Nebraska immigrants from the Netherlands. Enjoy your research and the many new friends and "cousins" you will meet along this way.
