Hi All, Just wanted to tell you fellow genealogists an interesting story. I began a new family, my husband's father's family, BUCKLEY, with just a birth place and birth date of his grandfather, and the names of his grandfather's parents. I made a trip to the National Archives in Seattle, and found the family in 1910, Platte county. That was exciting enough. BUT, last year I had worked with MY mother on her family, and we lost track of them from 1910-1918. As I was looking for the BUCKLEY's, I accidentally ran across MY mom's missing family. 1910, Platte county. What are the odds of that? My great grandparents, and my husbands great grandparents living in the same county, same time. My husband and I are both from Seattle. My great grandfather was listed as a chicken farmer. Dave's great grandfather was listed as an auctioneer. They probably did business together at some point. Strange, huh? Both families came from different states. I wonder why they both decided to migrate to Nebraska in the early 1900's?? Any suggestions? Anyway, I'm leaving Nebraska now, and starting Iowa. Just wanted to say, don't give up! The search is so much fun, and when you least expect it, something pops up! Laura
Hi, Does anyone know if the records of the GAR post 231 were given to the Nebraska Historical Society. In the list of Civil War veterans in Nebraska my great grand father Clark William Eaton was listed but had no Post number. He was living in the Litchfield, Sherman County area. His Cousin Orris D Eaton was listed as belonging to Post 231 Also living in Litchfield. Any help as to where the records are kept would be very welcome. LeRoy Eaton leaton@earthlink.net
Hello Friends: I am researching John C. BEHRENS(dob 10/1/1837, dod 12/10/1898) who married Mary (Marie) C. KUENNEMANN (dob June 1, 1851, dod 4/21/1895) in Shell Creek Township, Platte County, Nebraska May 11, 1875. She was born in Oldenburg. Her parents were John H. KUENNEMANN and Catharine EILERS. John's place of birth is listed as Insul Ruehjen (Ruegen?). Can anyone tell me where Insul Ruegen is? John's parents were John BEHRENS and Johanna S. SANDHAGEN. Others have done wonderful research dating back to the 1700's on my Becher-Mohlmann ancestors from Hollen, Ostfriesland who settled first in Illinois and finally in Platte County. I hope to do the same with my other lines. Judy Martin
Looking for Christian (b. 1/24/1829) and Maria (b.1834 ) MICHAELSON/SEN. He was born in Germany and she in Denmark. They immigrated in 1881 with son Peter (b. Sept.1862 in Denmark). Evidence points to their immigration from Denmark to America. They settled in Platte County, Nebraska. I could not make a match from the Danish Immigration Archives. Peter married Anna BECHER in Platte County NE 5/1/1885 and had 12 children. I have the children's names since they are my great aunts and uncles. I would like to know Peter had siblings and precisely from where the whole family immigrated. Judy Martin

I am looking for information on Richard Harrison and his wife Elizabeth Connell who came from Indiana & Ohio to Iowa and then settled in Nebraska in the 1840-50s. They had 10 children at the time of the 1880 census. There were probably more children. Richard's father was William Brice Harrison married to Emma Osborn(e).William and the rest of his children came to Nebraska at the same or near the same time. Richard had younger siblings in 1870 census still living with parents. I have a copy of a newsclipping of (date unknown) William D Harrison who was celebrating a 96th birthday in Beemer,Ne. It stated that he moved to Beemer from Yutan in 1890. I would like to know if this is a brother, son or cousin to Richard. My G-grandfather was Herman R Harrison ,2nd son of Richard. His son Earnest L Harrison was my grandfather. We are somehow related to the Harrison Presidents and signer of Dec.of Independence. Any info is appreciated! William D Harrison was from a family of 16 children and Richard & his wife may have had more than 10. Please e-mail me direct at : Kpaw28@aol.com

It is still a fine, thriving community called Bethany Heights on land records. Might be able to help with more details as to what you need to know, etc.

But, I am looking for CLINE in OHIO that moved to NE. Is there anything else that you have on Louisa CLINE's immediate family or ancestry? My grandfather was a CLINE, and I think according to the 1880 Census Record that the family was in OHIO prior to being in NE. His name was Erma Reed CLINE, son of Adam CLINE and Sarah Dell SHAW. My paternal grandparents lived in Lincoln (which is why I'm subscribed to this list). They had a house on 33rd and Holdredge Streets, which when I was perhaps 10 years old they had moved to Holdredge and 64th streets. I was told that this new location was the Bethany area of Lincoln. It's due east of downtown Lincoln, not far from I-80. I hope this helps. Best regards, Gary Swartzleonard San Jose, CA

Thanks to everyone who responded to my query. I was going through 1923 newspapers up in the attic of the news office today looking for an obit and came across a short article about the Asa Cave family moving from Winnetoon to Bethany. We are trying to put together a Winnetoon history book so made me curious - in fact, my house is the one Asa Cave's family lived in for a time! Now, if you're wondering where Winnetoon is, we are in northeast Nebraska in Knox County and have a population of around 60 - depends on who's home!! Thanks again, Peggy Ebel
>Has anyone out there ever heard of Bethenie/Betheney/ Bethaney - NE Hi Peg, According to Perkey's .... Bethany in Lancaster County, and in same Co. was Bethany Heights. Detail in the main pages indicates it was suburb of Lincoln, and what started as Bethany. later became Bethany Heights. T&C
