Marilyn, According to the Hebron Journal Register Anniversary edition published in 1921, one of the early Lutheran churches in Hebron was founded in 1881. There are two here in the town proper and several rural Lutheran churches in the surrounding area. Unfortunately the article does not say which of them is being written about, but, not being Lutheran myself, I would venture to guess the church you are seeking is/was in the town proper it might have been Grace Lutheran. The current minister there is Rev. Bruce Berggren, and the address is 224 N 4th St. Phone 402-768-6044. Hope this helps. Best Wishes, Liz Marilyn F. Yes, there was (and probably still is) a German Lutheran Church in Hebron back in the early 1900's. Go to the USGenWeb and the Nebraska page, and click on Thayer Co. There are entries noting that there was a German Lutheran Church there. Regards, Mona Sarratt Knight
Hi everyone, I was wondering if any one could tell me if there is a Lutheran church in Hebron, Nebraska that would still have been there back in 1908 and 1909? If so could I have an address? Thank You Marilyn

Connie and others on the Nebraska list who are sure to let me know that Funk, NE still exists -- Oops! So much for ancient atlases! I scoured the one I've had for years and which has produced literally every other municipality I've looked for without a hitch - and Funk, Nebraska wasn't even in the list of cities! I'm glad to know it's still there - I have two wedding invitations from 1898 and 1901 respectively for marriages between the LIND and GUSTAFSON families, as follows: 1898 - Mrs. & Mrs. OTTO GUSTAFSON request your presence at the marriage of their daughter, JENNIE, to EMIL LIND, Wednesday, March15 (date of 1898 written in by my grandmother) at 1 o'clock p.m. at the residence of the bride's parents Funk. Nebraska. 1901 - Mr. & Mrs. SWAN LIND request your presence at the marriage of their daughter, AUGUSTA AMALIA, to CARL WILLIAM GUSTAFSON, Thursday, September twelfth, Nineteen hundred one, at three p.m., Fridham Church, Funk, Nebraska. Reception at home. There is some evidence that my maternal great-great-grandmother's maiden name may have been KAROTINA GUSTAFSON which would explain why these two documents are still in the family photo album. She married (Unknown) RYDELL. They moved to St. Sigfrid (near Nybro) sometime after 1872 and had four children: JOSEF RYDELL m. Lisa ? - remained in Sweden. CARL RYDELL m. CHARLOTTE (or Charolett) ? - remained in Sweden IDA MATILDA RYDELL - came to America c.1890 m. John Franklin Sims c.1891 in Illinois. One child: Lula Mae, b. 1898 HILDA RYDELL - came to America c. 1890 m. Unknown Nelson - widowed in Sweden. m. John Hayden, d. 1903 - had one child, Helen Hayden, M.D. who practiced in Chicago m. Unknown Hartman Chris Bradley San Rafael, California

Dear Mona - Thanks for the Nebraska 1895 Atlas site. I've been looking for Funk, NE (which is apparently now deFUNKt!!!) and hope this will help. Thanks - Chris Bradley
Just a helpful hint in case you don't know about this site. If you wish to see an 1895 atlas of nebraska and search for towns (even if they no longer exist) and locations, go to: NEBRASKA COUNTY 1895 MAPS or to http://www.livgenmi.com/necounty.htm. It's a terrific resource! Best regards, Mona Sarratt Knight
I would like to know what county Hampton, NE is in. MWeigel349@aol.com
Is there any way to screen out spam from this mailing list? Ads in the digest waste everybody's time.
I lost the mssg that had the name of the man in Lincoln to write re. adoption records. Can someone send please? Don't need the address, just the name. Thanks, Kathy
Charlene Perkey's lists a Nims, in Richardson county. He says "former locality probably named for Mrs Betsy V. Nims or Reuel Nims, early settlers." I suspect however that it may well be elsewhere that is being referred to. In days past there were locations that were given grandiose names by the locals that caught on with the locals but not the officials. For instance, White City was a local place on the banks of Lake Quinnebaugh, Burt County. I defy anyone to find it on a map, in Perkey's or any place besides in the memories of the old timers. But everyone knew where it was. Many of the locals know where it was even today, but.... You are not bother near what I am as ListOwner. One did slip through last night to nearly every list that I'm connected with. ABUSE has been contacted and it will be handled at the server in the future. RootsWeb really does a pretty good job of filtering spams. Hi, Would anyone be willing to look up the name of Cassius W. (C. W. or Cash) SPARGUR in the Omaha City Directory in 1905? Thank you. Sincerely, Holly Vonderohe
Hello, I am searching for descendants and ancestors of Leander J. Carpenter, who married Permelia Howe in 1856 and then came to Gage County by wagon train in 1866. Two of his children died in that year. Other children were Lorinda Parthenia, b. 1857, who married Peter Bowhay; Lucian, b.1866, and Laura, b. (1880). I have had no luck so far finding out where and Permelia came from. Other names I am looking for in Gage County include CLARK, COX, BRUBAKER, HERSHEY, BOWHAY Barbara Clark Archer
