    2. Linda Hendley
    3. Hi all, Linda here from a warmer Calif. I want to share this with all of you because if it had not been for Bill Attwood from Tucson AZ I may not have found my Addison Townsend that was the elusive one in the Townsend family. OK here goes, I had purchased the Social Security CD from Family Tree maker in the hopes that just maybe I would find him and to my disappointment he was not there. I had put out many queries all through U.S. Genweb and nothing, but Bill Atwood from the SCKY list looked at ancestry search and found him on their Social Security list. So I sent to the Social security administration and got a copy of his original application and it list his parents so I know that this indeed is my Addison. And can you believe he lived to be 95 yrs old. Oh and he applied for his SS# when he was 92 ys. So don't give up on one site because another may have the info you need. Here are the three that I know of and make sure you book mark them for future searching. And if any of you can figure why he wanted a SS# at 92 yrs, let me know. Bye for now, Linda Ancestry. Com http://www.ancestry.com/main.htm Sierra Home http://www.sierra.com/sierrahome/familytree/records/ Family Tree http://www.familytreemaker.com/ Oh and while I am in my book marks here is a great site for free look-ups http://seidata.com/~lhoffman/cdlist.html Linda Hendley minnie-s10@worldnet.att.net

    3. You didn't say if you'd already tried this, but you can paste the ISBN number into Amazon.com's search and it will call up this book. Their info agrees with yours, but they go on to state "Although it is no longer available from the publisher, we'll query our network of used bookstores for you and send an update within one to two weeks"

    3. The address for information from the railroad along with fee is http://www.rrb.gov/geneal.html . Also, to the person who said they did not list her ggfather, they apparently did not keep records until 1936 and so they would not have the information on him. 2. Wayne and/or Norma Combs
    3. Would like to make contact with anyone who is researching/descended from either William MINER (1844-1931) or his brother Albert Allen MINER (1851-1880), who left IL after the Civil War and homesteaded in NE, where they died. William married Mary Emeline HORNE in 1877, and Albert married Martha Alice OWENS in 1876. Their parents are Allen MINER (1809-1850) and Elizabeth (CARSON) MINER (1820-?). I am descended from William and Albert's older sister Elizabeth (MINER) WADE, who married Henry F. WADE in IL in 1858 and in 1860 returned with him to RI/CT where they remained. (1882) is currently being transcribed and presented on the web. Although a lot of our NEGenWeb people have and are working on it, it is not a NEGenWeb project. It is being done by EKIS volunteers, and can be found as a part of the Kansas Collection, along with it's sister book, "The History of the State of Kansas", A. T. Andreas, publisher. This is also referred to as Wm. Cutler's "History of Kansas, as Wm. Cutler editing of the information for both states. The Fillmore county chapter is not available yet, but many of the other county chapters, and general history chapters are finished and available at: http://www.ukans.edu/carrie/kancoll/andreas_ne/ Connie Snyder EKIS Associate Manager for "The History of the State of Nebraska"

    2. Michalene, I don't know about Dixon County, but Fillmore County shows the following: BOWMAN - Cornelius M,; George; and William H. MATTISON - none WHITFORD - none SISSON - none SMITH - tons; could you give me a first name? there are at least 18 different first names and some of them have pages of references listed in the index. (I can look in the 1880 book this evening - I'm on my lunch break from work right now and just had to sneak a peak at the email on my computer :) saw your request and decided to quickly look up the names.
