Morning! I thought I might as well throw my Most Wanted Nebraskan into the mix. Here's hoping the name rings a bell with someone. Mary Louise Dotson b. 7 January 1861 in Iowa, married Freeman Lewin 1879 also in Iowa. They migrated to Nebraska around 1890 where their last two children were born in Valley County. Mary died 15 June 1952 and is buried in Douglas Grove Cemetery, Comstock, NE. I don't know anything about Mary prior to her marriage other than her birth date. Any leads will be gratefully accepted. It derives from an Old Norse (ancestor language of the Scandinavian languages)word, jarl, referring to a chieftain or nobleman - if you've seen the movie, "The Vikings" - with Kirk Douglas, it's those guys. :) Anyway, I've seen it spelled in a variety of ways such as JARRELL. You might try going to the www.genforum.com page and look for the surname JARL or JARRELL and see what they have. It's worth a try. (I'm not a JARL researcher so can't help much beyond this.) I, too, am an Arizonan now but miss Nebraska and the midwest. I have a dear friend from junior high school that I visit each summer in Iowa, and we always do the Nebraska "tour." Must be that flat or rolling prairie that I miss, cuz I can't say that I miss the winters. Sometimes in Phoenix the "city life" gets to me and I have to go back to the midwest for my fix! Regards, MonaNArizona

Hi List Members, I am rather new to this list, but I am impressed with the activity level and all the valuable information provided. I live in Palo Alto, CA since 1966, originally from Sweden. I am searching for three brothers of my paternal grandfather. Their original last name was Nilsson in Sweden, but they changed it to Nelson when they arrived to the US. 1. CARL FREDRIK NILSSON, born April 25, 1870. Emigrated in 1885 with Wahoo, NE as destination. Not heard from. 2. FILIP LEONARD NILSSON, born December 11, 1871. Emigrated in 1889 with Wahoo, NE as destination. He stayed in touch with his parents and visited Sweden several times. He settled in Petaluma, where he died in the early 1950s. He had no children of his own. 3. ERIK HARALD NILSSON, born April 10, 1880. Emigrated in1898 with Wahoo as destination. He also wrote letters home. He settled in Omaha, NE, where he married Beatrice Christ. They had a son, born in March 1913(?). They still lived in Omaha 1926. His addresses were: 1. In 1913 it was 2019 N. 21st Street 2. In 1926 it was 4125 Ohio Street I'm hoping that somebody in Nebraska has some kind of information on them, and I would appreciate a response if you have any clues. Sincerely, Kjell Nilsson Palo Alto, CA
