Hi everyone, well I have just finished adding several Old Postcards to the Lancaster County pages and I have also updated and added a second page for the Old-Time Medical Terminology page, also I now am listowner for MEDICAL-GENEALOGY-L and this is the List page where there are also instructions on subscribing, etc. A big Thank you to Susan Weaver who submitted several old postcards for Lancaster County from her private collection. There are many with the card backs scanned so you can see message and names of sender and postmarks. Very nice postcards too! Hope some of you will join the list for MEDICAL- GENEALOGY-L and post some of your questions about old time diseases, folk remedies , etc. Old Postcards of Lancaster County, NE http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~irishrose/postcards.html Old-Time Medical Terminology http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~irishrose/oldtime.html Old-Time Medical Terminology pg.2 - Lancaster Co., NE http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~irishrose/oldtime2.html Take care ~Kathie Harrison Lancaster Co., NEGenWeb Coordinator http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~irishrose/lancindex.html Harrison Roots & Branches home page: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~irishrose/index.html ListMom of Rootsweb mail lists: NELANCAS-L, NEDIXON-L, NESAUNDE-L & MEDICAL-GENEALOGY-L Old-Time Medical Terminology http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~irishrose/oldtime.html
The complete listing for Obert Cemetery is now available on the Cedar County page of the Nebraska Tombstone Transcription Project. Photos of some of the stones will be available in the next few days on the Nebraska Tombstone Photo Project at this link: http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ne/tombstone/tombstone_main.html A huge thank you to Arne & Twila Anderson for walking this cemetery with me on a hot, windy Nebraska day under halos of sweat bees! I have just added the index for Cedar Co. Natz. Petitions & Records for 1912-1916. This list includes 98 names. I have not alphabetized this listing because some of the individuals are listed by multiple surnames...please look over the list carefully. http://www.rootsweb.com/~necedar2/ Here are two examples: On the Petition for Natz., the name reads: STENWALL Johan Johanson On the Certificate of Arrival, it reads: JOHANSON Johannes On the Declaration of Intent, it reads: STENWALL John On the Petition for Natz., the name reads: SVENSON Sven Erik On the Declaration of Intent, it reads: LINN Sven Erik After pouring over these volumes for hours, walking the cemeteries, reading obits from the early issues of the Cedar County News, I'm beginning to feel like I know all these people! Please let me know if you find your ancestors among these lists...it will feel good to know their family has "found" them! If you need information on requesting copies of any of these documents, you can e-mail Twila Anderson, Cedar County Historical Society, at mailto:[email protected] Happy searching!! Kristi B. I have just added the mortuary index (names and locations of burials) for the Hartington City Cemetery to the Cedar County page of the Nebraska Tombstone Transcription Project. I owe a huge thank you to Jim Wintz of Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington, NE, for giving me access to this index. This index includes Pottersfield and as many other names known for persons in unmarked graves. Unfortunately, as with most cemeteries, there are also unmarked graves without identities. Good Evening All! I did cross post this but missed several lists in the state of Indiana and surrounding area, so please pass this on if you deem it beneficial. Well, I am running a bit behind due to the accident, the funeral and the upcoming problem with the shoulders, but finally 3 months after I started it, the 1900 Indiana State Roster of the Spanish American War is complete. There are numerous regiments, and battalions, and tons of data that may help you find that lost piece to your family puzzle. I saw many friends names listed in the index, which totals over 8,000 names. Now on to a church book that I promised someone I would do as soon as this book was done....<g> somewhere in SE Nebraska.....at least this time I am remembering to put the url in the notice about the project. http://www.livgenmi.com/1900INSpanishAmericanWarRosterTitle.htm You may want to check out other books in the Memorial On Line Library... www.LivGenMI.com/memoriallibrary.htm This book is brought to you through the courtesy of a friend Janet McCormick who is a book dealer and wanted this data saved before she sold the book. Hi everyone, We have several new resources available in the NEGenWeb Project OnLine Library (OLL), plus I would like to pass along some links that have some great genealogical and historical information about Nebraska. NEW! If you have a place name in Nebraska and have no idea where it's located, or would just like to learn how that town received it's name in the first place, then you will want to check out "Nebraska Place Names", by Lilian Linder Fitzpatrick, A.M., 1925. I've added an idex for just the towns, so you will be able to check that if you don't know the county location in Nebraska. http://www.rootsweb.com/~neresour/OLLibrary/Maps_Atlas/nebplacenames/index.html That link address is pretty long, so it may come through in two lines. If so, you will need to copy and paste the complete address in, or go through the OLL Maps page for the link: http://www.rootsweb.com/~neresour/OLLibrary/maps.html NEW! The most recent NSHS Genealogist Corner is also now available in the OLL: "New acquistions and Wish List" Part 6, Vol. 53, No. 6 http://www.rootsweb.com/~neresour/NSHS/Gen_Corner/index.html We have several great websites available that will help in your research in Nebraska. If you haven't already found them, you might want to take the time to check them out: NEGenWeb Project - check the county selection list to find the county website where your ancestors lived. Each county site has it's own volunteer as coordinator. http://www.rootsweb.com/~negenweb/ NEGenWeb Project Resource Center http://www.rootsweb.com/~neresour/ NEGenWeb Project County Unknown - A great place to help find your ancestors in Nebraska! It includes the list of all the Features that we've been able to find in our state, with their county location, along with some great suggestions for researching in Nebraska. http://www.rootsweb.com/~neunknow/ NEGenWeb Project OnLine Library http://www.rootsweb.com/~neresour/OLLibrary/index.html Several of our group of volunteers are also helping with the NSGS website as members of the Nebraska State Genealogical Society: NSGS http://www.rootsweb.com/~nesgs/ NEW! NSGS Ancestree Vol II is complete and available for you to check out: http://www.rootsweb.com/~nesgs/Ancestree/ All of the NEGenWeb Project and NSGS volunteers hope that the resources that we are posting will you help you in your genealogical and historical research in Nebraska.
