Hi All, well, got tired of doing big stuff so just played over the last 24 hours....and put up a real quickie...but kinda neat, especially when you read the rules of this institution. Would have liked to have seen those uniforms. This is the 1895 Rules & Regulations of the Soldiers and Sailors Home in Grand Island Nebraska. Only about 10 names in the whole thing, but a couple of neat images. http://www.livgenmi.com/1895NEGdIslandSoldiersTitle.htm I have heard from one friend in Nebraska who shall remain nameless that uses Netscape and she has a problem with the buttons not working on the Table of Contents page. If anyone out there also uses Netscape and has the same problem or even if you don't have a problem and use Netscape, could you please let me know....She got me today with a large dig <g> so here it is back, we do not know if it is the coding or "operator error" <rotfl> Again, this is a part of the Memorial Library, so if you are looking for more books that might help in your research you might want to look here and see what is available. www.LivGenMI.com/memoriallibrary.htm Pam http://www.LivGenMI.com Home of the 1895 atlas & many more historical maps & books for the U.S. in the Memorial On-Line Library http://www.ChaseNEgw.com Home of the 1891 Shippers Dispatch Gazetteer http://www.ShepherdsVoice.org Home of Shepherd of the Lakes Lutheran Church Brighton MI. Hi All, If this is a duplicate, please delete, after all someone has to offer an interesting plan of exercise for your little finger <g> Also if anyone knows of a list that deals with Police History I would appreciate if you would forward this on, as I have no clue. If you are into history of either the midwest or Police or law enforcement then this latest addition to the Memorial Library may interest you. Enjoy! This book is the 1909 Souviner Book for the 50th Anniversary of the Omaha Police Department. Two thoughts come to mind, the great Bobby hats that the police wore back then, I thought they were only in England, and the fact that when I did the ads, it was apparent that there were at least 2-3 saloons or liquor dealers for every person in the city of Omaha. Oh well, enjoy! http://www.livgenmi.com/1909NEOmahaPoliceTitle.htm This was a fun but tedious book to scan in as the images are gorgeous but splitting away all the individual images were a real challenge. There are over 1000 people listed in the all name index that I created. I tried to capture any name that appeared in the ads or articles or images captions that might be a clue for you in your research. If you want to see other selections in the Memorial On Line Library of which this is a part, go to: www.LivGenMI.com/memoriallibrary.htm Several states have their own page as there is a lot of data bout those states, Nebraska being one of those. I believe that Iowa will soon have its own page, as I have a great typist there and CA is not far behind with an equally talented typist. Working on several other books while still waiting for the repair surgeries on shoulders from car wreck back in April...a friedn suggested that I now pull a trailer with a 20 foot tongue and then place the bullseye on the trailer and I would not be hit that way. I like it,.....IF only I knew how to drive with a trailer, have been stuck more than once in a parking lot for over an hour trying to back up....grrrrrrrr... Have a great day! Hi, I was wondering if you could post the URL/hyperlink for the Omaha Nebraska Obit Index page. Thanks, Gretchen
Is anybody else planning to be at the Quad Cities conference in September? I'm looking forward to being at the national conference with four days of classes. I just have to figure how to clone myself so that I can be in two classes at the same time. Karen

When I finish 1898 (am working backwards), I want to do something more modern for a year or two's worth of indexing. I confess to getting burned out with turn of the century obits because you have to look on every page except the want ads. If anybody has any requests, email me OFF THE LIST with requests & I will consider them in order of number of people needing a given year. There are people working on the 1940s & 1950s. Since 1960 is when they started the SS death index, that thru 1980s will be the last years done. So basically, any year between 1901 (which is about 1/2 done & 1940) is up for request. Karen

The Lancaster County, NE Church page has been updated. The Sacred Heart Catholic Church All names member list of the year 1969 for D-J surnames has been added. This is an ongoing project so be sure to check often for updates and additions to this and other Lancaster County pages. Coming soon will be Yankee Hill Cemetery of Lincoln, NE which will be a database of over 1300 burials and will be periodically updated; and I have been told by a representative of Roper and Sons Funeral Homes that they will be working with me to provide their database of names and dates of all cases served since 1907. The fields contained will be name, date-of-death, place-of-death, city, and state. Please watch for details coming soon on this wonderful resource to be added to the Lancaster County pages. <A HREF="http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~irishrose/nelanc/shchurchlist2. html">Sacred Heart Church List - D thru J - Lincoln, Lancaster Co., NE</A> http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~irishrose/nelanc/shchurchlist2.html Remember that if you have any old church lists, bulletins, etc that you think might be useful for others, please contact me about submitting them for the Lancaster County, NEGenWeb site. I saw an inquiry a few days ago about the Hollingsworth family. I was raised in Wabash from 1939 to 1949. I had a herd of relatives that lived in Weeping Water and the surrouding area. It seems to me I can remember the name Hollingsworth sometime in those years. I am going to check with my older brothers a my parents are deceased and see what they can come up with. Like I say, I don't know if the inquiry came from you or not. If it did please let me know. Thank you....Don Brown
I have added a BURGESS family page to Harrison Roots & Branches website. This begins with the maternal grandparents of my maternal grandmother. The family was in Dixon County, NE and some of my G-grandmother's siblings went to Omaha, NE, Sioux City, IA and some remained in Dixon County. My great grandmother, Clarissa Elvira Hollingsworth is said to be buried somewhere in Nebraska, but I do not know where. The only info I have is that when my grandfather was young (6-16) they lived on the "edge of an indian reservation". He recounted the time that one day a group of indians came by and "bartered" to trade for his dog. His dad traded the dog, but when a neighbor happened by and told them that the indians probabaly wanted the dog for food, they raced after the group and got the dog back. He also told about his older brothers burying their dad up to his neck in the sand "just like the indians did to their enemies". Clarissa was born in Iowa in 1852 and grandpa was born in Iowa in 1880, so they were in Nebraska in the period 1886 - (?) . Grandpa's fathers name was Benjamin Franklin Hollingsworth. Why they moved to Nebraska is unknown. Clarissa was a Clark before they married. Any help would be appreciated. I just received the marriage certificate for my G-grandfather John Andrew Hogan and his first wife Anna MORN. I would like to find out more about her and her parents. Her parents names were Dennis MORN & Ann MCFALL MORN. The marriage was in 1887 in Lancaster Co., NE. I know that they had 4 daughters and a son, and my own grandmother was from the second marriage to Mary Ann O'GARA. The first wife Anna was 19 at the age of her marriage to my G-grandfather John HOGAN who was 30. Both were born in Scotland (SCOTCH-IRISH). Does anyone have a connection to the MORN family? Anna was supposed to have died in childbirth but I don't know any more than this. Any help is appreciated. <A HREF="http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~irishrose/hogan.html">HOGAN FAMILY</A> http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~irishrose/hogan.html Take care ~Kathie Harrison Harrison Roots & Branches home page: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~irishrose/index.html
