    2. Laura Anderson
    3. If you didn't take a look at the booklet recently added to the MARDOS Memorial On-Line Library, it is worth a few minutes of your time. As we are searching for a bit of sense that needs to come out of all the tragedy lately, I think there are some timeless words included in this booklet about Buffalo County. The last few pages include veterans' names and some words about what it means to fight for our flag. Just my 2 cents. Thank you, Mona, for your time and effort. And thanks also to Pam for her wonderful on-line library. http://www.rootsweb.com/~nebuffal/booster/ Laura

    1. [NEBRRoots] 1930 census reels
    2. As most of you know, the census will be released in April of 2002. Those of you who live in the Omaha area have probably deduced that the library will be VERY lucky if they can afford to purchase just the Nebraska reels for 1930. Greater Omaha Genealogical Society is determined to do what they can to help. If you use the W. Dale Clark library and live in the Omaha area, contact me, and I'll let you know what we're up to and how you can help if interested. There are 2668 films in the new series. By the way, we have a publication date on the Douglas County Marriages 1854-1881 book: 7 Feb 2002!! The Society will be ordering a few copies & members will be able to purchase the book for a discount when they're available. (No word yet on the projected cost.) And this is the last month to join G.O.G.S. if you want to submit your ancestral names for inclusion in the Who's Searching Where book that will include members, their ancestral names & where they're being searched for, and the list of 150 societies we exchange newsletters with. All members and exchange societies will get a copy of the book as part of the membership. Karen

    1. [NEBRRoots] Nebraska WWII Records, Aborigine, UNL Alumnus, and Swedish Records to Mardos Memorial Library.
    2. Pam Rietsch
    3. Hi All, Well finally I get to announce a book I have completed for your pleasure and research needs, along with several that have been completed by my friends who have done again awesome transcriptions that may help you in your history tracking. I had hoped to get this done earlier but with the knee surgery last week and it was waaaaaay more painful than I expected, I have told my ortho surgeon that until the right knee is literally falling off I am not going to "fix" it...think this was a close 2nd to the back surgery last December....I have also sent this post to a few extra lists because of the names I saw in the index, and if you think of another list that it should go to please pass it on. If it is a duplicate, please delete. Pam Rietsch Nebraska Navy State Summary of World War II Casualties http://www.livgenmi.com/1946NENavyWarCasualtiesTitle.htm This was an interesting book to transcribe if only because my father was so involved with the Navy in WWII. So sad to see the long lists of those who died and those thousands who were injured in that campaign, and while there is almost 3000 names in the all name index, this was just one state and only one branch of the service. Each section is split into separate pages so you can click on whatever might interest you. The nice thing about this is for every soldier there is a next of kin listed, whether it be a spouse or parents or sibling and their address. The Nebraska Aborigines as They Appeared in the Eighteenth Century http://www.rootsweb.com/~neresour/OLLibrary/neab/index.htm Another great transcription by Ted & Carole Miller. Published 1913 by NE Academy of Sciences. Booklet - reporting on any/all documents known in 1913, related to American Indians in NE, & dated prior to the Lewis & Clark expedition. Focus seems to be determination of tribal names & locations. Every name index. There are some great old maps in this book. NOTE: The large map (center button on last page) takes over 1 min. to load. Efter Fyrtio Ar http://www.rootsweb.com/~neethnic/swede/efter.html >From Connie Snyder, the State Coordinator of NEGenWeb, "The title is  "Efter Fyrtio Ar" and Ted Miller has scanned in all the pages from the book for us. Section of marriages, births & deaths; ten bios of prominent graduates; survey results (own a Hupmobile?); (Pam note...a brand of car of the time) summary of the school year. Reports on athletic activity, changes in staff, condition of buildings, Ivy Day, graduation address, etc. Terrific amount of genealogical information on about 45 pages. Every name index added - column was 17 pages long until formatted for the web page. Don't know where Pam Rietsch found this one - hope everybody will dig around and find more NE Alumnus! This particular issue is Volume XXI, no 6. Looks like they produced 10 issues per year. We'd be delighted to post more copies. Please let us know if anything doesn't load, isn't properly linked. 2. Pam Rietsch
    3. Hi All, I give up, I will never get caught up with the dedicated helpers I have doing books for the library...here comes 3 more additions that may help with your research.... These Fifty Years: A History of the College of Agriculture of the University of Nebraska. http://www.rootsweb.com/~neresour/OLLibrary/UNAC/index.htm This book transcribed by Ted & Carole Miller, the dynamic duo that does work for the library probably 20 hours a day, unless there is tennis on and then Ted watches that for about 2 hours, while still scanning of course. Haven't found what slows down Carole yet except maybe her great grandson who likes to push the buttons on her computer to amuse her. <g> It was published in 1925 authored by Robert P. Crawford. It includes175 pages of history, 9 photos and an all name index. The early university, those involved in agricultural & mechanical education, financial struggles, federal programs, farmer's institutes, Experiment Stations, county agents, etc. NE Territorial Pioneers Association, Vol. I: 1917 http://www.rootsweb.com/~neresour/pioneer/ntpa/voli/pages/index.htm This first of  a series of two booklets of the Nebraska Pioneers Association was transcribed by Ted & Carole Miller, complete with an all name index and placed on the Nebraska Pioneer Pages of NEGenWeb hosted by John McCoy who also has the great Railroading pages for NEGenWeb, also a part of the On Line Library. The Chapter headings are as follows: WHEN THE TOWN OF LANCASTER WAS CHANGED TO LINCOLN; THE FEAST OF MODAMIN; EARLY DAYS IN NEBRASKA; NEBRASKA'S PIONEERS IN HISTORY; REMINISCENCES OF GOVERNMENT SURVEYING; AN OMAHA EXPERIENCE; ROUND TABLE REMINISCENCES; PRESIDENT'S ANNUAL ADDRESS; OBITUARY SKETCHES; SECRETARY'S REPORT; PROCEEDINGS, 1917. NE Territorial Pioneers Association, Vol. I http://www.rootsweb.com/~neresour/pioneer/ntpa/volii/pages/index.htm This second of  the series of  booklets of the Nebraska Pioneers Association was transcribed by Ted & Carole Miller, complete with an all name index and placed on the Nebraska Pioneer Pages of NEGenWeb hosted by John McCoy who also has the great Railroading pages for NEGenWeb, also a part of the On Line Library. 3. Dear Nebraska Researchers, I certainly hope you and your loved ones are all safe in the aftermath of the horrendous terrorism that hit New York and Washington,DC. Today I launched a website for my "Return to Seward Diary, August 2001" project. It documents, hopefully for your pleasure and information, my family research trip to SEWARD County last month, and the discoveries I made. My new Seward Diary homepage is located at: http://www.stipak.com/hageman/williambrown/SewardDiary/SewardDiary.htm I have posted all 7 Diary entries that I have written to date, with links to dozens of photos taken on my trip. I estimate that I will have about 4 installments yet to finish writing in the next 2 weeks or so. Also, I have posted a SURNAMES page here: http://www.stipak.com/hageman/williambrown/SewardDiary/surnames.htm It includes dozens of Seward surnames mentioned in my Seward Diary installments, cemetery photos, and old family photos, plus a link to many more Seward County surnames in other places on my family website. The numbers next to the surnames are the Diary entry numbers where the names can be found, and when clicked will take you to that installment page. I hope that you will enjoy the website. It connects with my family website "complex," which has a great deal of info about our IMIG and HAGEMAN cousins and ancestors. I am constantly working to improve it, with your help and encouragement. Please do not hesitate to send me your comments, questions, suggestions, corrections, and contributions. I appreciate hearing from all of you very much. Warmest wishes, Alice San Jose, CA
