If it helps at all, I have family who ended up in York Co., Nebraska by 1873. They were from Nauvoo, Adams Co., OH and Pike Co., OH. If you have to resort to looking at Ohio census to find them, you might try in these two counties... who knows? Sure seems like folks traveled long distances together (family, neighbors) around this time frame. Good luck, Laura

    1. [NEBRRoots] Changes at LivGenMI & addy change - P Rietsch is leaving - Change your Address Books
    2. Pam
    3. Hi All, Just a quick note to let you now that the server that has hosted all 9000+ pages of my various sites is failing and will be going down shortly probably. This includes the Livingston County MI site, the 1895 atlas and the Chase County Nebraska and the books of the MARDOS Memorial Library. Thankfully Charly Caldwell II has come forth again and will be the total sponsor of these sites so they do not have to be taken off the net. Without his immense help this project would never have gotten off the ground and again he has saved it. Btw...the Library will soon be moving to its own domain name and hopefully much easier to surf to find transcribed books for the various states at www.MemorialLibrary.com the link is already active and has a link back to the old site until the pages are moved. As a result of these changes some of the pages may or may not be available for up to several hours at various times as I am moving all the pages. The largest change will be with the atlas which I have spent hundreds and hundreds of hours redoing the entire project. I hope you like the changes and I am sure you will like the resized maps to make downloading faster. While I have not tested a lot of them it appears the download time has gone to less than half of the original time. Could they be faster? Perhaps, I have had numerous posts over the years telling me to do this or that, but in the majority of cases the integrity of the maps declined and I did not feel that was a good idea. While I have had a few nay sayers over the years about the size of them the are not even a speck compared to the compliments about having the maps available. One nice thing coming up is PBS will be using one of the maps in an uncoming presentation about the Illinois area. There are also some more neat maps that were never put up for this project that I will be adding in the process. Please make sure that IF you wish to contact me to update your address books to my new addy below as the [email protected] addy will not work soon. Hopefully everyone also changed the links that they have on their sites to the old, old, ismi domain have also changed them to the LivGenMI, ChaseNEgw and MemorialLibrary urls, because as I also redo the pages I am removing all the files off the old server. On another front, thanks for all the kind notes about the medical situations...still more surgeries to go from the red light runner, but hey while I recoup I can put more data on line for you all <g> Pam http://www.LivGenMI.com Home of the 1895 atlas http://www.LivGenMI.com/1895 & many more historical maps & books for the U.S. in the Memorial On-Line Library http://www.LivGenMI.com/memoriallibrary.htm http://www.ChaseNEgw.com Home of the 1891 Shippers Dispatch Gazetteer http://www.ShepherdsVoice.org Home of Shepherd of the Lakes Lutheran Church Brighton MI. 2. Phyllis Pasqual
    3. Hi List, I am new for this list...so will post my name, and hope some good person will also know that name.I am looking for our great grandmother Anne Stevens. She was born in Wyoming in 1884, her name Anne Widdowfield. Between in 1905 and 1911 Anne married three times. Her first child was born in 1907, Luella Alice Campbell. In 1912 she gave birth to Lennard Stevens. Sometime in 1912-13 Ann left Lennard with a neighbor and disappeared. She may have gone to either Omaha NE or Denver CO. We would really like to find Anne, what may have happened to her. We feel she had another family after she left Wyoming. Anne is the only family member I have not found. I would like to fine her and put her in her place on the family tree. Can anyone help? Can anyone give me some ideas on trying to find her? 2. Melinda Strong
    3. My husband's Bohemian ancestors came from Koryta, Plzen, Bohemia circa 1866, first settling in Braidwood, Will Co, IL. They later moved to Saunders County, Nebraska. His great-great grandfather was Frank SOUKUP, b 4 July 1852 in Koryta and who married Anna BEZNOSKA ca 1873 in Saunders County, Nebraska. Anna's family was from Beroun, Bohemia, and lived in Cleveland, Ohio before moving to Nebraska. Most of the SOUKUP's later moved to Oklahoma, although some of them later moved back to Fillmore County, Nebraska. Frank was said to be the son of Anton Soukup. Frank's mother, Marie, appeared to have been married twice. Her maiden name is unknown, but *might* be BURES(H). Her first husband was a ZAKOVIC. By that husband, she had a son and daughter. Her daughter, Anna ZAKOVIC, married a HINES(H). Marie next married Anton SOUKUP,Sr.. They had three children, Anton SOUKUP, Jr., Frank SOUKUP, and Veronika SOUKUP who married a VIRKA. I found an Anton Saml. SOOCOP on the 1880 Census for Saunders County. He was shows as age 75, and married to a 78 year old Rosy, also born in Bohemia. I am not They lived near my Frank and Anna SOOCOP; and assume they are Frank's parents. I am not sure why the wife is named Rosy. Maybe Anton remarried? Maybe she was Rosy Marie? Would love to exchange notes with anyone researching these families.

    1. [NEBRRoots] Tips on Posting Queries to Mail Lists
    2. I know that there are alot of "newbies" out there to genealogy mail lists and also many of us who are "seasoned" but need helpful reminders on how to post good queries to a list. I thought maybe that posting these tips would be helpful to many of you. Tips for Posting Accuracy is important and sources are vital. Ancestor lists are worthless if the information is wrong. All information need not be accompanied by source citations, but I do recommend strongly that posts either include sources or a note stating that they are available on request. If information is speculation then label it as such until it is proven or commonly accepted as fact. When posting your query try to give as much information as you know, such as dates and places of all vital events if known, along with enough other family members so that the reader can positively identify if they are researching the same family. "Anyone out there researching CALDWELL'S?" is way too broad and most likely won't get you the results that you are hoping for. When posting your query it is helpful to make the message as readable as possible. One paragraph, a page long, full of names and dates, is too tedious to decipher and most people won't bother to take the time to do so. Write surnames in CAPITAL letters. They are much easier to read and are the generally accepted way to write surnames. When replying to a list (this also can apply to private replies) try to quote some portions of the previous message so that other readers are reminded what the "thread" is about. Make it clear what is quoted material and what you are adding. Most mail readers take care of this for you by inserting greater than signs ">" at the beginning of each quoted line or possibly double brackets "<<" before and ">>" after the quoted piece. Use standard Windows procedures to "cut" unnecessary material. By all means NEVER hit the reply button without CHANGING the SUBJECT line! Post your query at least monthly if you have not yet found the information you are seeking regarding your ancestor. New people are joining these lists all the time and they may have the information that you need. Please send all replies to the list you are on, not just to the original poster. Check your SEND TO: and include the list address and the original poster's address. Other members may benefit from the data that you provide. That is why it is important to post to both. Also see the Rootsweb FAQ pages for help regarding your questions about mail lists: http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/help/mail1.html http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/help/mail2.html http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/help/mail3.html I hope these tips help! 2. Does anyone know where MaryJane Winkler Lehr died? She was last in Schaller, IA in the 1900 census living with her daughter Adaline Smith and son in law Franklin Smith and family. The Smith family is buried in the Schaller, cemetery, but I can't locate Mary Jane. I have info that she may have died around 1903. Her son Marvin Allen Lehr and family were in the 1900 Boone, NE census, but not Mary Jane Winkler Lehr. Her father was James Winkler of Medina, OH. Mary Jane Winkler Lehr was a decendant of Fanny and Lawrence Winkler buried in Wayne Co, OH. Also looking for decendants of Henry & Elsie Lehr of Omaha, NE that are buried in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Omaha, NE. Also Marrvin Lehr, Lucian lehr, Cecil Lehr. Any info would be deeply appreciated. At a brick wall. Sandy in VA.
