    1. [NEBRRoots] Kratky/Zimmerman-
    2. Hi, Is there anyone on the list working on these names in Nebraska? I've found Kratky's in Saunders CO, and Omaha. But am unable to make a connection at this point in time. Kratky, John Frank(Francis) - born June 1856 in Bohemia, immigrated 1862, naturalized name spellings seen (Kratty, Kratke, Kraty, Krathy, Krappy, Kraky, kratka,) Zimmerman, Mary Frances (Frances Mary) -- born abt Dec 1865 in Bohemia(Prague), immigrated 1885, Catholic. I have limited information on this lady. One census record (1900, Missouri, Kansas City, occupation blacksmith) reports that all five children from this couple were born in Missouri(1887-1896). However, subsequent 1910 states that older four children born in Nebraska.(1886-1892) Three boys report Omaha, Nebraska as birthplace on WWI draft registration, Social Security application with the birthdates varying each source.(1 year) Know that Charles Francis (Frank) Kratky, born 1888/1889 remained a Catholic, as did his mother "Fanny". Therefore, I am wondering where I might look for baptism/christening records in the Omaha area for immigrants from "Prague". There is a John Kratky listed in the 1889 & 1890 Omaha City Directory (occupation bartender), address 1413 Pacific & 720 S. 14th. If this is my John Kratky, I would assume that he resided in this neighborhood and his family possibly went to a church nearby. Thanks for any suggestions. I live in Portland, OR and have my sister in Kansas City do footwork. Charlene

    1. [NEBRRoots] Blizzard of 1872 - The Easter Snowstorm by Millie Owen
    2. I have just added the story Blizzard of 1872/3 - The Easter Snowstorm by Millie Owen. Millie was the granddaughter of Buckskin Charley White. Millie was also the grandniece of my G-grandmother Ellen Josephine Owen Harrison. Millie's son Jack Owen Hays sent it to me to be added to my Harrison Roots & Branches website. Millie wrote this when she was 16 years old. There is also a photo of Millie on this page. <A HREF="http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~irishrose/blizzard.htm">Blizzard - The Easter Snowstorm 1872 - By Millie Owen </A> http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~irishrose/blizzard.htm The details of this story are also found at the following site: York County, NEGenWeb Project page and Janene, Henderson Community School, 4th Grade wrote it: http://yorkhistorical.esu6.k12.ne.us/janene.html There is a discrepancy of the dates between the two stories. I am not sure which is correct but wanted to provide a link to the other version. 3. Dear Kristi, I have the city of York and York County cemetery books and I looked to see if there were any Grove names listed and there was only one was was born in 1935. Laura Anderson was right about people moving together. I have been doing some research in the McCool Junction, NE area and have found ten families that were not related at the time who were in Fayette County, PA in the 1830-1850 and in Illinois in 1850-1870 and all settled in McCool. 3. Dear Nancy, Thank you for volunteering your books and lookups for others. As a county coordinator, I know what an invaluable resource this can be. I am interested in a listing in the cemetery in York, I believe its called Greenwood, and has a section for people that were IOOF members or passed while residents of the IOOF home. I wonder what the book lists for my great-great grandfather, Elijah TURNER, deceased 1924. I have spoken to the cemetery keeper and he says that he shows *two* Elijah Turners, and all the information is EXACTLY the same, but one is listed as male and one as female, and they are in fact listed at the same plot. Thanks for your time, Susan Anderson ----- Original Message ----- From: Nancy L Galaway To: [email protected] Sent: 1/28/02 9:04:14 AM Subject: [NEBRRoots] Re: Lookups for York Cemetery and Fairmont, Fillmore Co., NE I have the city of York and York County cemetery books. 1. [NEBRRoots] New Online in Keith County
    2. Susan Anderson
    3. Just wanted to let you know that a "Resume of Deaths and Burials" is now online at Keith County. It lists names, dates and burials for about 280 Keith County folk from 1886-1911. Links to these lists are available at http://www.rootsweb.com/~nekeith/cemeteries.html Also newly online in Keith County is Books We Own, a list of books that are available for lookup. Thanks to the hard work of Keith Hughes, two of these books have surname indices available. Links are available at http://www.rootsweb.com/~nekeith/books.html If you are on multiple lists, I apologize for the duplicated messages.
