My grandfather, James C. THOMPSON appears in the 1880 census (as "J. C.") in Logan, Clay county. He had moved the family from PA arriving in NE about 1878 hoping to prove a homestead claim. Because of wounds received at Gettysburg he was unable to do so and moved to Carleton, Thayer county where he died in 1888. If there was a state census in 1885, I would like to know where he was at that time. His wife Sarah Eleanor THOMPSON returned to PA after his death but may have been in NE for the 1890 U.S. census. Any information from those two possible sources will be greatly appreciated! Moody
I'll send you the 1885 info shortly. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Mcthomjr@aol.com> To: <NE-CENSUS-LOOKUP-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, September 10, 2003 9:13 PM Subject: [NE-CENSUS-LOOKUP] NE Census 1885, 1890? > My grandfather, James C.
