    3. Diane: It is a real mystery as to why I am not able to find your family on the census. If you go to your local library branch that have Internet access. You can ask the librarian if they have Heritage Quest or Ancestry Plus at the library. If they do than you can search through there for the census online. Matthew D. Friend

    2. Diane Ethridge
    3. Hello Matthew: Thanks for getting back with me on this Wilson/Arbuckle dilemma. My gg grandmother, was b in 1836 in either Henry, Rush or Marion Cos, IN. I've seen all 3. She was Johanna (Joannah) Gilbert Wright (was maiden name). In 1852 she marr Wm Arbuckle in Clark Co. IL. Must have div him in late 1880s sometime because I found her living alone in 1880 in Decatur Co. IA & in 1885 in Lincoln under the name of Arbuckle. Then when she died in 1906 she was listed as the "Widow of A. G. Wilson". Have no idea who he was or anything about him. At the time of her death she was living with her daughter's family, Dora & Harvey Van Eman (per Lincoln newspaper obit) in "University Place". I really need to get a census for Lanc Co for 1900 & it isn't on the "net" that I can find. Do you know how I might find one? Have other names I need to look into as well - my entire family in this line was there at that time. Somewhere I found or someone told me that Joannah & Wilson were had lived in Tecumseh, Johnson Co., NE but where that came from, I just don't know. Thanks again, Diane ----- Original Message ----- From: "Matthew D Friend" <thefriendfamily@msn.com> To: <NE-CENSUS-LOOKUP-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, October 27, 2003 11:09 AM Subject: Re: [NE-CENSUS-LOOKUP] Lancaster and/or Johnson Co. look-up please > Hi Diane > > Would you by chance have a birth year and place in your gr gr grandmother? > And would you know where Mr. Wilson was born? > > There isn't any listing for the Van Eman in Nebraska. 3. Hi Diane Would you by chance have a birth year and place in your gr gr grandmother? And would you know where Mr. Wilson was born? There isn't any listing for the Van Eman in Nebraska. Could there be any other spelling on them? I found a Henry Eman in Lancaster but as a boarder in Lincoln. Matthew D. Friend

    1. [NE-CENSUS-LOOKUP] Lancaster and/or Johnson Co. look-up please
    2. Diane Ethridge
    3. I would very much appreciate a look-up in the 1900 census of the 2 listed counties please for: A. G. Wilson & Joannah (Johanna) Arbuckle. This couple married sometime in the late 1890s & I was told, but can't confirm, that they were living in Johnson Co. (Tecumseh) when they died. I don't have a marriage date but she died in 1906 & is listed as a "widow of Wilson." She was in Lincoln, NE in 1885 as Joannah Arbuckle & was in Lincoln when she died of TB but was living with her daughter, Dora (Arbuckle) Van Eman & husband, Harvey E. Van Eman. Evidently Mr. Wilson didn't live long after their marriage but I haven't been able to find anything on him at all except that I believe his first name was "Alexander." She is buried in Wyuka Cemetery but don't believe he is there. Thank you for any help on this. Joannah is my gr gr grandmother. Diane Ethridge Conroe, TX

All censuses taken after 1920 are still confidential and the information they contain is not open to the public. The census from > 1790 through 1840 only named the head of the household and the numbers of people in categories - 3 males over 16, 2 males under 16, etc. The census from 1850 through 1920 lists each member of the household and usually gives the relationship to the head of the house. It also gives age (later years give birth month and year) and place of birth (usually just the state or foreign country). The 1890 census was almost totally destroyed by fire so there is a 20 year gap between 1880 and 1900. > CENSUS LOOKUPS HOME PAGE http://www.rootsweb.com/~censlook/ > > ============================== > To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, go to: > http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237 > >
