I would appreciate a lookup for GERWICK, Charles L. (b. 7/14/1890, Barada, NE, d. 4/20/1964, Kearney, NE), and GERWICK, Mary V. (2/4/1891, Diller, NE, d. 6/1/1974, Seward, NE). In 1920 my father says they lived in Gage County. They were married in Beatrice in 1918 and their daughter, born and died in 1918, is buried in the Odell Cemetery. I searched the whole CD for Gage County 1920 Census with no luck. Maybe I missed it! Can you tell me if they are listed or not? Thank you so much for all your help. Sue in California

Sorry about another email from me but I wanted you all to know that I am trying to work out the kinks and ensure that all new subscribers know how to post. When replying to a query please send it to the mailing lists. I hope this will get the point across ;) Everyone will receive the welcome letters when they subscribe as well as a separate letter that reads as follows. READ THIS BEFORE MAKING A LOOKUP REQUEST First check these links to see if the info you need is online so you can look for your family first. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/census/inv/index.html http://censuslinks.com Posting Guidelines, (not following these guidelines can result in your query being ignored or you being unsubscribed) Send requests to Send it to [email protected] (supply the two letter state abbreviation for the XX ) Limit lookup requests to ONE email request per day. The subject line should read YEAR/COUNTY/SURNAME NO General requests such as "all Smiths in all counties" Be specific, Name the County, Family you are looking for and also the year. Try to supply as much info as possible. Please chip in an help to do lookups when you can. When you reply to a request please send it to the mailing list. Please also read the welcome letter you received after subscribing.
I have been watching the lists and the requests and have decided the following guidelines are needed. These will be added to the welcome letters and they will have to be "enforced". Since I am only one person I am asking that you please help me to keep these new subscribers aware of the request guidelines by reminding them gently that they make requests in this manner or they will be unsubscribed after a couple of offenses. I hate to make such strict rules but we are getting people sending a dozen requests a day, not including vital information and in some cases being pushy when they don't get an answer right away. Some of our lists have over 300 people, that is alot of email when folks are making numerous requests. As always please jump in and help with the requests when you are able to. Thanks, Kelly Posting Guidelines, (not following these guidelines can result in your query being ignored or you being unsubscribed) Limit lookup requests to ONE email request per day. (Let me know if more is needed) I am looking for Robert and Ellen Hafer/Haffer and Henry (or James) and his wife Blanche Hafer/Haffer, in 1880 Fillmore County. Robert and Ellen were born in PA and Henry was born in Illinois, Blanche in NE. Thanks in advance, Lori
I am looking for a few good folks to help manage or take over a few of the CENSUS-LOOKUP mailing lists. If you think you may want to help please drop me a line at [email protected] and let me know what state you would like to help with. Thanks,Kelly
Hello Everyone, I would like to take a moment to update you on the CENSUS-LOOKUP lists. As you all know the lists are less than a week old but what you may not know is that over the past few days we have had aprox. 200 subscriptions a day ! We are growing at a rate I never even considered possible. I hope and pray this continues, I know many CC's are adding links to their county pages and this will benefit us as well. Some of the state mailing lists (CENSUS-LOOKUP) are well over 200 people per state list while others are not nearly as busy. It is my hope that everyone will try to help a fellow researcher by doing lookups if they have the material. I have received many letters from people who are willing to help do the lookups when the queries are from the counties they research and have census for. Please chip in and do the same if you can. If everyone gives just a little we will all gain alot. Just imagine how wonderful it would be to send a query about a "brick wall" and get an answer without having to spend hours at the library reading film and leaving with an eye strain and migraine ;) That is my goal for these lists. I can already see that there is huge interest and need for these lists, we just have to pool our resources together and help one another. Please remember to not flood the lists with a ton of lookup requests all at once. Take your time and also resubmit your query in a week or so if you have not gotten an answer. It would also be wonderful if you could send the answers to the queries to the lists so we may all see the results. Thanks and Good Luck in your research, Kelly
