Death was caused by a septic throat, which developed into pneumonia after less than a week's illness. Funeral services were held on Mon. Mar. 4, at 10 a.m. at the St. Cecelia church in Harvey, the Rt. Rev. Mgsr. Woeste officiating. Mr. Ficker was born Nov. 38, 1869 at Vermillion, & attended school & grew into manhood in that vicinity. He went to Anamoose, ND., in 1904 & was employed at Albrecht's store for 9 yr. From there he moved to Wells county where he has resided ever since. The deceased is survived by his widow & 7 children who are Mrs. Horace Banks & Mary Ann of Wannaska, MN., Mrs. Henry Bomersine of Fesseden, Cecilia, Isabelle, Francis, Charles, William & Anton at home. The five brothers & six sisters of are John of Drake; Joseph & Anton & Mrs. J. P. Holzemer of Amidon, ND., Conrad of Watkins; Sgt. Nick C. of Fort Snelling, Mrs. Peter Schwartz, of Vermillion; Mrs. Alvin Fosler of Rosemount; Mrs. J. P. Schwart of St. Paul, Mrs. Peter Huberty of Lakeville, all of MN & Mrs. Ernest Von Wald of Red Lake Falls, MN All were present at the funeral except 2 daughters from Wannaska & Sgt. Nick Ficker of Fort Snelling. Other out of town relatives were: M/M Hasbro of Drake; Miss Clara Ficker of Bismark, ND, Peter Fox & Raymond Reuter of Hastings, George & J. P. Holzemer of Amidon; M/M A. Y. Ficker of Minot, ND., Joseph & Mrs. J. E. Ficker of Drake., Mrs. Conrad Ficker of Watkins, P.J. Huberty of Lakeville M.M Donald Dompier of Harvey, ND. Mr. Ficker is well known in the Vermillion community & has a host of friends who keenly feel the loss of a friend.
