That is what the obituary said, but her father was Lars Flotlien. I messaged the Norway Heritage board to see if someone there could help to figure this one out! Thanks! I am just trying all possible leads. :)

I also ran a search at https://secure.apps.state.nd.us/doh/certificates/deathCertSearch.htm and Marie was not listed there. The ND Department of Health does not have death records prior to January 1, 1881, but if she died in ND it should have been there. But you can search there for free for anyone who did die in ND.

The index for Wells County Cemetery states that on page 26: Marie J. Flotlien. If anyone could look up her birth/death information, I would appreciate it. I am actually searching for Eline (Johnson) Flotlien b. 05 Jul 1863 in Ringsaker, Norway and her son, Martin Flotlien, b. 01 Jun 1882, Ottertail County, Minnesota and he later lived in Montana. I do not know the husband of Eline/father of Martin. Eline later remarried to Otto Evenson and they lived in Larson, North Dakota. Thanks to anyone that can help!

Hi Vern, My father-in-law's family were 2nd generation German's from Russia and also lived in Harvey during the 1910 - 1940 time period. Surname was Reimer. My father in law always said that they spoke German at home and learned English when they started elementary school. Jodi
My grandfather, Heinrich Jacob Ruffer, and family came to the US on 25 Apr 1911 from Germany and with the help of a sponsor, the Fisher family, came straight to Harvey, Wells Co, ND. My question is, did they have a germans from Russia village or program in Harvey?. They couldn't speak english when they arrived and 3 children went to school to learn. Someone had to be able to speak German at the school. Any help in finding anyone that can explain where that school is or was. Thank you Vern Barlow

I'm checking to see if anyone has any information regarding the Samuel Luras family who lived in Heimdal Township or elsewhere in Wells County between 1908 & 1914. Father was Samuel. Mother was Amelia. Children were Stanton (born August 1908), Clifford (born 2-7-1910), Leonard (born 7-7-1911) & Lloyd (born 8-29-1914). Clifford supposedly died on 7-30-1912 after ingesting rat poisoning. Is there an obituary for Clifford? Any record of where he was buried? There was also a fifth child, Hilmer, who died at birth in 1918 -- but we don't know if his death occurred in Wells County or in Montana (where the family relocated to). Any information you can provide will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

I have had someone who looked at the Tribune file at Ancestry.com and it was not my great aunt. I really appreciate your kind offers of assistance. Thank you and Happy New Year! Rita

She was a correspondent for local papers in Wells County (mainly Wells Co. Free Press)for nearly forty years so surely there were articles about the fire and an obituary. I would be so very grateful if someone in Wells County would be willing to search the local newspapers for me. She died in Bremen on March 31,1955. There appears to be something available in the Bismark Tribune on Ancestry.com but I don't have a subscription that includes newpapers. Thank you very much for taking the time to read my query and whatever consideration you are able to give. Rita
