This was a story handed down in my family for several generations. My Great Grandfather Fred Cameron was party to this event. Family story has it that the man was dragged by a rope tied to a wagon while pleading for his life and hung under the Stockyard gate. The story also has it that he was trying to steal his child by the wife. The father in law was said to be a very well liked man (possibly the conductor of the local railroad).
