    3. This note is in regard to politics in the USGenWeb Project - but since it may effect you here in NDGenWeb, you may wish to read it. =============================================================== In case you are wondering why Lee sent the Fw: An Invitation to the list instead of me - the National Coordinator has unsubbed me from the State-Coordinator's list, which he has not allowed me to freely post to since December 2002, because at that point in time, I disagreed with him on policy matters, when I was on the AB. Even after I left the AB, he never lifted his sanction against me. When I wrote him earlier this year if he would lift the sanction, he said 'I'll think about it.' Never another word on this since that time. The current NC asked the Advisory Board to label me MNIGS (so I couldn't run against him in the elections about to come up in July) and so he could further try to take other privileges from me - under an authority that doesn't exist in the Project Bylaws. Upon that action, even though the NC stated that such action would not effect my status in the various xxgenweb state projects - the Wisconsin SC delinked my 2 county sites there - that I had since 1996 and 1999. It is the researchers of Wisconsin, that come via the WIGenWeb page that suffer, for with search engines and the county mailing lists, the sites will still be known. The disagreement comes over the domains usgenweb.org and usgenweb.net for which I've paid the freight on for 3 years and 2 years respectively. When he became NC two years ago, I was in the process of paying the annual fees on the domains. Since I was paying the freight, he allowed one of the domains to be assigned to me, the other to himself. When the time came again in 2003 to renew, he had moved, left no new address or phone number, thus I had no valid address to put down for him. Even after the AB illegally declared me MNIGS, one of the AB members approached me to see if an arrangement could be set up to effect the transfer of the domains and to ask what I wanted in return. Since the current NC has since early in his administration in September, 2002, steadily eroded the rights of members to voice complaints, disagree with his administration, I felt this was a chance to get some of those rights returned to the membership. I asked that I be reinstated in Wisconsin since the SC acted with prejudice towards me. I asked to be granted the same privileges that every other ASC/SC in the Project is allowed - the right to speak freely on the State-Coord list. I asked to be subscribed to the project list USGW-Discuss, from which the moderator (WIGenWeb SC) had removed me supposedly for life. This was denied as I was told the AB would not force a SC to take back a CC they had dismissed. I asked to be left alone in GAGenWeb where the AB/NC has been trying for the last two years to harass me out of office. The domain .net was xfered to the AB member in trust, so that at some point in time they could xfer it on to the NC for under AB motions 04-07 and 04-11 they state the NC is to be the admin contact. Period. Late in the negotiations, the AB trust member asked for total control of the domain. As that was not part of the agreement as I understood it, nor had it been mentioned prior to that, I balked. Due to some misunderstanding of what I had turned over and what the AB person was talking about - the AB member vamoosed from the agreement. I wrote the NC that as far as I was concerned, the agreement still stood. I asked if another AB member could stand in trust instead. The NC stated that would suffice. I replied, ok, that I would wait to hear if the AB member would serve in that capacity, then went to bed thinking things were progressing. The next day at my lunch break, I read where the NC stated the negotiations had failed. I wrote him again, asking what was going on as the last I heard he had agreed and that we were waiting to see if the AB member would serve in the trust capacity. He stated that our emails crossed in cyberspace - fair enough. The AB member agreed, the transfer started again to a new person, address and so forth. When the AB member saw that the domain was in fact transferred to their name, they wrote the NC that the transfer had taken place. That was last weekend. On Tuesday or Wednesday, the NC wrote me again saying that the agreement was off. So I wrote him again asking him what was going on - since I had completed the first part of the agreement. No reply to date. In the meantime while all this was going on - an orderly transfer taking place, the NC and cronies have taken one step after another against me and my ASCs in Georgia. So, we wait to see what next action the NC will do. I have completed the first part of the agreement. =============== On another topic. With Joe's resignation this week, Lee King moves up to first ASC. I thank Joe for his long and patient service as my ASC in North Dakota. To give any other member a chance to be second ASC, please write me privately if you would be interested in this position. Tim
