    3. Greetings all! I am undertaking to write up some guidelines for CCs. We have new ones and potentially even more since there are quite a few counties up for adoption. It would be nice to clearly state what is expected of a CC in ND. We have the national guidelines: http://www.usgenweb.com/volunteers/countypage.html but do you have suggestions as to how we can hone those for ND, or what else we might recommend or require? Also, it would be nice to have some great helps for all of us CCs -- tutorials for example on html, FTP, submission forms, etc. That would benefit not only new CCs but all of us, because I don't think most of us can say we know it all when it comes to websites. :-) So if you have a favorite website that's helped you, or know of a fantastic tutorial, please share it! ~Lee S. 3. Hi Lee ! Have you seen the fairly new USGenWeb Newsletters? I think there are at least two published. Along with other good data they have genealogy web site tips. I don't remember how I got them and maybe they send them out to all CC's. If they don't go to everyone, it would be good to have on NDGENWEB-L. If you have not seen, please let me know and I'll try to find my back issues for you. Sincerely, Mike Emmons ----- Original Message ----- From: "L. S. 3. Although I frown on laying down a lot of requirements on CCs I don't have a problem with the requirements in the below URL. I think we should be consistent with requirements because we do belong to an organization and they do provide us plenty of web space and in many cases tools to help us. I don't think requirements however should interfere with each coordinator's desire to create web sites they envision as helping their county researchers. I suggest in addition to the below URL these standards: 1] That the USGenWeb and the NDGenWeb logos/links be displayed at the top of the home page. 2] That each home page have the Coordinator's name and current email link. 3] That each site have a search engine. No matter how well we design our web sites there is no better tool than a search utility for researchers in my mind. Now days there are three or four freebie search engines and they provide all the tools for getting it installed on our web sites. Very easy to use with tremendous payback to the researcher.
