    3. Good evening, folks I hate to add more problems, but I have already posted Pierce and Benson up for adoption. I just don't have the time to devote to them. <sigh> If anyone is interested in them, please let me know. I will be posting this on the county lists next weekend if there are no takers here. 3. Hi Folks! Please inquire among those you know genealogy-wise if anyone wants the counties that are up for adoption. You can see a list of them on our adoption page: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ndgenweb/adopt.htm I've thrown one of mine into the ring -- Griggs County. My health isn't good and isn't likely to improve. I'd like to ND in shape and all adopted before this year is up. As the counties currently up for adoption are taken, I'll be throwing more of mine into the ring. I cannot keep up, especially now. I have one project I'd like to get going -- the table page has some misinformation on it for some counties, such as the year the county was formed or parent county. Check the page out and if your county's info isn't correct, send the correct info to me. It will save me time in checking out the counties. http://www.rootsweb.com/~ndgenweb/table.htm Thanks! ~Lee S. 1. NDGenWeb Traill County Web Site Update
    2. Mike Peterson
    3. Thanks to the many who contribute to our web site, we've added quite a bit of genealogical and historical data. We have many to thank for their generous contributions and time in helping our web site grow. Since our last update, they include Dale Carlson, Bill Pull, Christine Hill, Curt Eriksmoen, Marilyn McGuire, Darilee Bednar, Margit Nysetvold Bakke, Olaf Kringhaug, and Helen Butler. Without them we wouldn't be getting anywhere but we also need you to help us grow. Visit our "What's New" page at http://www.rootsweb.com/~ndtrail2/whatsnewindex.htm to see what we've been doing. And while you are there, make it easier for you to know when we have updated the web site. Instead of trying to remember to come back and see what's happening, all you need to do is copy the url address of the whatsnew page, then enter your email address in the box provided on the page, and then on the changedirection page, paste the url address into the box and enter. From that point on you will be notified when we make an update, no more having to remember to come back to see what's been done. While you are visiting our web site, go ahead and submit the surnames you are researching at this page - http://www.rootsweb.com/~ndtrail2/surnames.htm and also check the surnames which are there, maybe someone can help in your research. We know this list really needs to grow. We invite those of you who have genealogy documents, photos, records, maps, obituaries, biographies, old newspaper articles, and so on which pertain to Traill county to please contribute them to our site so that your data may be shared with others. Also, other items can help us. Do you know more specific directions to a Traill County cemetery, or have a picture of a Traill County cemetery entrance? These would help others in their search for cemeteries. Visit us, enjoy, and if you can please help us. Sincerely, Mike Peterson NDGenWeb Traill County Coordinator geanie@cox.net http://www.rootsweb.com/~ndtrail2/

    3. Hi Mike You are operating your page for one of the few ND counties in which they have assigned a guy to be in charge of all abanoned cemeteries. His name escapes me for the minute although I could look it up. He mows and fences and generally looks for vandalism etc. on all those cemeteries in Emmons County which are not being cared for. Morton County also does something similar. There, all abandoned cemeteres are taken care of by the county park board. Most of the rest of us live in counties where the county commisioners just look the other way and worry about spending their money for the living without messing around with the dead. So we have numerous really abandoned cemeteries being trod on by horses, cows etc. etc. George L. 3. Hi George ! Would you be thinking of Ron Kremer? Sincerely, Mike ps - yes, by far the majority of us have uncaring government's taking care of abandoned cemeteries. Shame. I've noticed in Iowa that there is now a 'volunteer' preservation society of some kind, small in number, but doing some great things and trying to get the band rolling. Scouts are getting active there also. ----- Original Message ----- From: "George L. 2. I have been given a copy of the history of Poker Jim Cemetery with a transcription of the cemetery. There are just twenty graves. The copy came from an Internet posting some years ago and the author is unknown. Is there a chance that anyone on this list has an idea who the author might be? I hope to get permission to post a copy on the McKenzie County web site. Thanks, Mitch Ryder CC for McKenzie County
