    3. It may SEEM dormant, but if I liven up any more, I will be AIRBORNE! Actually, I have been trying to update the cemtery lists in McLean County, but am having a problem. I have also received some photos and information I want to share, but as yet have not learned just how to do that! We will have a new Directory at Riverside cemetery in Washburn in the near future. We will have a map of the whole cemetery(3 different sections), and a book lising all the burials with their locations . I would also like to share news about the 125th anniversary of Washburn coming in June, and the publication of a new book, MORE PIONEER MOTHERS OF McLEAN COUNTY NORTH DAKOTA, which just came from the printers today! It was FUN editing and preparing layout, but sooooo many hours of work! We also need a bit of time getting the County Museum in Washburn ready to open to the public by Memorial Day. You can see our museum at http://www.wrtc.com/vmerkel/McLeanCountyMuseum/ I must confess I do not adminsiter that site, my daughter does it from her location at Beltsville, MD(just outside D C) Vivian ----- Original Message ----- From: "Michelle Savre" <ndcounty@att.net> To: <NDGENWEB-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, May 14, 2007 9:57 PM Subject: [NDGENWEB] It's Spring Roll Call Time!!! Voting ends on April 27th, so time is short. Our Ohio restoration project was the only cemetery project to be chosen as one of the five finalists, so I truly hope that you will go to the Time Warner website and cast your vote for the James Cemetery project. If awarded this grant, we will use 100% of the grant to begin installing an antique-style aluminum alloy fence around the perimeter in order to help halt further desecration of this sacred and historic burial ground. You can read more about our James Cemetery project at the Time Warner 'Save Our History' voting website. Please unite with us as a group of genealogists concerned about the ever-increasing destruction of our cemeteries by VOTING for us at the website below. And note also that ANYONE with Internet access can VOTE so please forward this email to your genealogy circle of friends and ask THEM to vote too! www.aroundrr.com/SaveOurHistory Anthony Coyan Secretary, Jackson County Chapter - Ohio Genealogical Society

    2. Garnett J.(Joe) Zsedeny
    3. Larry has also been working hard photographing and transcribing Golden Valley Cemeteries for the NDArchives. Today I uploaded his latest, Sentinel Butte Cemetery, the third he has completed. It has been a pleasure working with Larry. He understands photography, His computer and the necessary formatting after only minimal direction. And most important for researchers, he is putting original material online. Click:http://www.rootsweb.com/%7Eusgenweb/nd/goldenvalley/goldvaly.htm for a peek at Larry's work. 1. [NDGENWEB] Search Us Update
    2. Mike Peterson
    3. Thought you all would be interested in this as we come on line very shortly. This search has helped me already in my personal family research. My plans are to have it as a link from my two web sites. Sincerely, Mike Emmons Co Traill Co ----- Original Message ----- From: Daryl Lytton To: usgenweb-discuss@rootsweb.com Sent: 02 March, 2007 12:07 pm During February http://www.USGenWeb-Search.Us set a new record for visitors-per-month. We talked, debated, discussed and analyzed this, and concluded that it might be related to the fact that Search Us first opened to the public on February 1st. In February 5,975 different people visited the home page 8,699 times. Not a completely accurate count of visitors, because a lot of folks after their first visit to the home page, then went directly to the Search Us state page they were interested in searching. Not a good idea because we may need to change the names/urls of the state search pages, but the home page won't change. The visitors conducted a total of 25,163 searches in February. Pretty good, considering that there wasn't much for them to search seeing as though Search Us opened with only the 13 original states and the last two, ready to search. Throughout the month more states were added...AR, CO, ID, IT, KS, MN, MT, NV, OK, OR, SD, UT, WA and WY. So far in March, NE has been added and by this time tomorrow I'm expecting NM, AZ, ND and LA to be ready. Search Us now has 486,103 pages indexed. Daryl

    1. [NDGENWEB] State brochures / hand-outs
    2. Mike Peterson
    3. Forwarded to IA and ND. If it was done before, sorry for duplication Mike Dickinson Co IA Emmons Co ND Traill Co ND ----- Original Message ----- From: Linda Haas Davenport To: USGW Discuss Sent: 14 February, 2007 3:03 am Subject: [USGENWEB-DISCUSS] State brochures / hand-outs Over the last couple of years different members, or groups, have asked for something (flyers, brochures, etc.) from the states to hand-out to visitors who stop by a USGenWeb Project's booth at conferences. Left over hand-outs from one conference were packed up and sent on to the member(s) who would be hosting a booth at the next conference. After the conference in St George (Joy Fisher posted information about that recently) the supply of state hand-outs has been exhausted. There are two conferences coming up - a conference in CA in June and the FGS conference during Aug in Ft. Wayne, IN - where members have committed to a USGenWeb Project booth and they are in need of state hand-outs. Having a state hand-out is such a great way to promote your state project. The hand-outs don't have to be professional printed or cost a lot of money. If even half of the CCs in a state were to print a few hand-outs and mail them no one would be out a lot of money. If you're interested in promoting your state to conference attendees please consider contributing hand-outs and talk to your fellow state CCs. If you'd like to "do something" but aren't sure what - at the FGS conference in Boston last year the #1 hand-out was a small colored, post card sized, map of IA, printed on heavy card stock, showing the county names and boundaries. We were continuously asked if we had such maps for other states. If you have questions or I can help in any way please let me know.. Feel free to forward this to any appropriate Project list.
