Mr. Reavis was born Aug. 18, 1920, to the late Clinton Monroe and Etta Wilkins Reavis. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and also served his country during World War II in the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Reavis was a retired carpenter. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Audrey Steelman Reavis; and two brothers, J.C. Reavis and Barney Jennings Reavis. He is survived by his son, Van (Betty) Reavis of Yadkinville; two granddaughters, Christy Reavis (Timmy) Swaim and Jill Reavis (Doug) Wood; four great-grandchildren, Lane Swaim, Morgan Swaim, Devin Wood and Bryson Wood; a sister, Mary Geralene Reavis Smith; and a brother, Sanford Clifton Reavis. His funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, at Bethel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jesse Miles and the Rev. Grady Trivette officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Bur! ial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors by VFW Post 10346. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today, Oct. 3, at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. Published in the Winston-Salem Journal on 10/3/2007.
