She was born May 11, 1920, in Davie County to the late Willie Paul and Lesta Agnes Shore Walker. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and was a lifetime member of Mount Olive United Methodist Church. She loved playing and listening to her music. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Leon Smith, on Nov. 16, 2003. Mrs. Smith is survived by a daughter, Beverly Smith Hoots (Bobby) of Yadkinville; three sons, Bruce W. Smith (Mary) of Yadkinville; Terry Boyd Smith (Carolyn) of Scarborough, Maine; and Breck L. Smith (Doris) of Yadkinville; six grandchildren, Mark, Mike, Andy, Shane, Heather and Holly; and seven great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 19, at Eaton Funeral Chapel in Mocksville. Interment will follow in Mount Ol! ive United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today, Oct. 18, at Eaton Funeral Home.
