    3. Do you know Mrs. Sue Brewbaker Royal? I believe she has done some work on the Chapman-Hill family for someone. I can sen you her address if you need it. She lives just across the road from the Chapman-Brewbaker house in Huntsville. Frances H. 3. Mrs. Casstevens, Thank you for responding. Sue Royal had helped one of my sisters with research. Land records, though it is not specifically stated, and the census would point to Benjamin Chapman, a child of John Chapman of Spotsylvania County, Virginia and half brother of Erasmus Chapman, as the father of Thomas, our ggg- grandfather. Erasmus was in Lincoln County, Tennessee in the early 1800, was involved in a murder and then left after his divorce. . In or near to 1860 , John H. Chapman, son of Thomas moved his family to Petersburg, Lincoln Co., TN. He died there in 1870. I have found John H. named in a will as running a mill and building furniture. His wife, Demaris L. Shelton, taught music in a boarding school. This we have confirmed in original letters at Duke University. Mrs. Royal had told my sister of a cemetery down the road from her house that is on farm land under cultivation . This was possibly the cemetery used by the Chapman family for the generations previous to the death of Thomas in 1859 . Thomas is buried in Mt. Sinai Methodist Cemetery as is Sarah Hill Chapman , 2 children, Allen and Mary Jane, and a grand daughter. Do you know of any stone readings that might have been done in this older cemetery or if the stones were removed to another cemetery when the field was plowed? The Brewbaker family received the Chapman estate at the death of Mary Jane , the youngest daughter of Thomas Chapman and Sarah Hill. They have shared photos and some documentation. Thank you.
