Mrs. Couch was born Aug. 29, 1927, in Yadkin County to Claude and Cora Smith Oliver. Mrs. Couch was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher for many years and was retired from Elkin Valley Apparel. She was well known in the community for her seamstress work. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ancle Couch. Survivors include three sons, Terry Couch and wife Pamm of Advance; Nathan Couch and wife Debra of Siler City; and Eric M. Couch of Elkin; a brother, Ben Oliver of Ronda; two grandchildren, Jason Couch and wife Amber of Harrisburg and Heather C. Miller and husband James of Winston-Salem; and a great-grandchild, Caleb Miller. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Danny Dodds and Dr. Gary Byrd o! fficiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 this evening, Dec. 18, at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Elkin, NC 28621. Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin is serving the Couch family.
