She was born May 14, 1912, in Jonesville to the late Wesley Monroe and Mary Elizabeth Carter Evans. Mrs. Turner was a faithful member of Boonville United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years, sang in the choir and was district treasurer for United Methodist Women for several years. She was also the first president of the Boonville Women' s Club and worked approximately 40 years at Elkin Lumber Co. as a secretary and bookkeeper. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, James Ralph Fletcher, G.N. Dobbins and Oliver S. Turner; and a stepchild, Bill Dobbins. Surviving are her devoted daughter, Nancy Fletcher Reece of the home; two grandsons, James Thad (Kim) Reece and Joel Wade (Crystal) Reece; two great-grandchildren, Joshua Thad Reece and Nancy Renae Ree! ce; two stepgrandsons, Fletcher and Duncan Bazemore; several stepchildren, stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren; and a special dear friend and caregiver, Linda Snow. Her funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, at Boonville United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Marion Swann officiating. Burial will follow in Boonville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Boonville United Methodist Church General Fund, Boonville, NC 27011, or Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030. The family would like to express their gratitude to the ladies of the Hospice Palliative Care unit of Hoots Memorial Hospital in Yadkinville, especially Dr. Cathy Shore, for all the loving care given to Mrs. Turner.
