Gaynelle was born June 17, 1936, in Iredell County to the late Will H. and Ollie Carter Moxley. She was the granddaughter of the late D.H. "Bud" and Maggie Wagoner Moxley and James D. and Louisa Swaim Carter. Gaynelle married James H. Smith on Oct. 31, 1954. Gaynelle was a treasured Girl Scout leader for 27 years in the Boonville community. She was a proud member of the Sisters of the Skillet quilting group and they all were very special to her. Gaynelle enjoyed art classes and oil painting classes in Pilot Mountain for several years. She loved sporting events and watching her grandchildren participate. She was a member of Deep Creek Friends Meeting and served on various committees and groups. Before health problems prevented participation, Gaynelle served on the Yadkin County Republican Executive Committee, 5th district and N.C. Republican Executive Committees. I! n addition to her parents and grandparents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Stanley Moxley; great-grandson, Elijah Ray Swaim, and she leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 53 years, James H. Smith; her three children, Jeffery James (Becky) Smith of Boonville, Jeannie Katherine Smith and her fianc? Terry Hemiller of Chicago, Ill., Gary William Smith of Boonville; six grandchildren, Christopher Mayes of Wilmington, Maggie Swaim, Heather Smith, Amber Smith and Will Smith all of Boonville, and Carla (Brad) Pilcher of East Bend; a great-granddaughter, Addison Pilcher of East Bend; two brothers, Hayden (Flora Jean) Moxley of Jonesville, Gray (Shelby) Moxley of Boonville; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Her funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. today, Dec. 8, at Deep Creek Friends Meeting, with the Rev. Lee Lane officiating. Burial will follow in church cemetery. Her body will be in the church 30 minutes before the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials! may be made to Deep Creek Friends Meeting, 1140 Deep Creek Ch! urch Roa d, Yadkinville, NC 27055.
