Mr. Cline was born Oct. 16, 1933, in Cabarrus County to the late Alva Owen Sr. and Mary Query Cline. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Louise Mills Cline; son Smith Owen Cline; grandson Trevor James Cave; sisters Frances Cline Burgess and Louise Cline; and brothers Robert Cline, William Cline and Alva Owen Cline Jr. Surviving are his children, Elizabeth Cline (James) Stroud, Mary Cline (Darrell) Cave and James Franklin Cline Jr.; grandchildren Victoria Stroud, David Stroud, Ashley Cline, James (Mandy) Cline III, Scottie Cave and Valarie Cave; great-grandchildren Olivia Cline, Mikka Cline and Cali Cline; sister, Clara Cline Cashion; many beloved nieces, nephews; and special friend and companion Ann Cook. His memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, at Gentry Family Chapel in Yadkinville, with the Rev. Dennis ! Conner officiating, followed by full military honors by Yadkin VFW Post 10346. The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. before the service at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville, which is serving the Cline family.
