Mr. Brooks was born March 18, 1937, in Yadkin County to the late Johnny and Daisy Burgess Brooks. Surviving are his wife, Jo Ann Simpson Brooks; children, Andrew David Brooks, Shelia (Mike) Weathers; grandchildren, Matthew Weathers, Brooks Weathers; sisters, Judy Brooks, Teena Ingool; and several nieces and nephews. His funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, at Gentry Family Chapel, with the Rev. Tommy Conley, the Rev. Keith Stanley, and the Rev. Gorrell Inscore officiating. Burial will follow at West Yadkin Assembly of God Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3 p.m., Friday, Dec. 7, before the service. Flowers will be accepted or memorials can be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
