She was born in Yadkin County on Jan. 15, 1929, to Omar and Ada Hobson. She was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church. Mrs. Choplin was retired from Unifi and was employed by Fall Creek Elementary School. She was a volunteer for Yadkin Christian Ministries. Mrs. Choplin was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Grady Choplin; a sister, Mary Spencer; and a brother, Buford Hobson. Surviving are three sons, Gary (Diane) Choplin of East Bend; David (Barbara) Choplin of Jonesville; and Randy Choplin and friend Marsha of Boonville; a brother, J.W. (Zallie) Hobson of Waynesville; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, at Huff Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Kenny Gooden and the Rev. Sterling Riggs officiating. Burial will follow in the Union Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The! family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Nov. 7, at Huff Funeral Home in East Bend. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Union Grove Baptist Church, 2401 Nebo Road, Yadkinville, NC 27055.
