Warren D. Norman, 85, formerly of Truman Street, Yadkinville, passed away Sunday, Nov. 11, 2007, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born Nov. 18, 1921, in Surry County to the late Joseph Harrison and Sarah Vaughn Norman. The Rev. Norman was the former pastor of Poplar Springs Baptist Church and Salem Fork Baptist Church in Surry County and Deep Creek Baptist Church in Yadkin County. He served as assistant pastor with First Baptist Church of Yadkinville for several years and served as interim and supply pastor for dozens of churches throughout Yadkin, Davie, Forsyth and Surry Counties. He was a master craftsman and was known for his skill in woodworking, cabinet making, furniture and making musical instruments. He was a member of Enon Baptist Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters. Surviving are his beloved wife of 67 years, Stella Jane Rachels Nor! man; his children, David Edward (Janice) Norman of Hamptonville; Larry Warren (Jackie) Norman of Chesapeake, Va.; Garry Dean (Debbie) Norman of Lewisville; Wanda Norman (Steve) Taylor of East Bend; nine grandchildren, Chris (Beverly) Norman, Brian (Rebecca) Norman, Teresa (Todd) Phillips, Larry (Michelle) Norman, Mae Norman, Tia Williard, Jacob (Amy) Taylor, Sarah (Eden) Willard and George (Lisa) Taylor; 14 great-grandchildren, Brandon Norman, Cody Norman, Dillon Norman, Kelsea Norman, India Phillips, Chelsea Norman, Chase Gent, Brady Williard, Noel Williard, Levi Taylor, Jesse Willard, Farah Willard, Carlin Willard and Nate Harmony; a special friend, Jim Grant; and a bountiful amount of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. His funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, at Enon Baptist Church, with the Rev. Mark Elmore and the Rev. Richard Eskew officiating. He will be in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow in the church cemet! ery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. to! day, Nov . 13, at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Enon Baptist Church Family Life Center, Old U.S. Highway 421, East Bend, NC 27018.
