Mrs Baker, who is a daughter of John Collins, went West over 36 years ago and has not been in North Carolina since until the day before Christmas. The reunion was a very enjoyable occasion. The day was a model one, being warm and clear. The crowd began gathering in the early morning, including fathers, mothers, grandfathers, grandmothers, children, grandchildren and friends, and continued until there were 114. The guests were entertained with social chat, music, vocal and instrumental, until about 1:30 pm, when a table 40 feet long and three feet wide, which had been prepared for the occasion, was filled to perfection with the good things which had been prepared for the occasion by the kind hands of those who were present. After a prayer of thanksgiving by Rev W J Wyatt dinner was served in old-fashioned picnic style, except we had plenty of good coffee and no whiskey. After dinner the young people enjoyed themselves straw-riding in a wagon drawn by four horses. When the day was far spent all departed for their respective houses, having January 1st, 1906, stamped on their memories so as never to be forgotten.
