Mr. Winters was born Dec. 17, 1945, to the late Avery Dale and Selma Evans Winters. He was a retired tobacco grader, and he also served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Mr. Winters was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Jack Woodruff. Surviving are his brother, Leon (Rita) Winters of Jonesville; two nieces, Autumn Winters (Jason Morningstar) and Mary Jacyln Simpson; a nephew, Donnie Woodruff; two special aunts, Georgia Bryant and Ezlee Harp; and a special furry friend, Bogie. His funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, at Shady Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Paul Stewart and the Rev. Charles Jones officiating. He will be in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Nov. 7, at Shady Grove Baptist Church. Th! e family would like to say a special thanks to the family, friends, and the staff of Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital and Forsyth Medical Center for the loving care giving to Mr. Winters during his illness.
