Pierce, 74, passed away Friday September 26, 2008 at Yadkin Nursing Center after an extended illness. She was born April 24, 1934 in Burr Oak, Michigan to Don & Arlene Norton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Mindy Hardy on May 19, 2001. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Robert H. Pierce of the home; daughters: Jane ( J.B.) Lowery, Mocksville; Cynthia (Craig) Milan, Union Grove; son William "Bill" Pierce, Boonville; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; sister, Marian Houk , Largo Florida; brothers: Donald (Caroline) Norton, Lyman (Marge) Norton, Chiefland Florida; and half brother Jack (Diana) Custer, Angola Indiana. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday September 27, 2008 at Gentry Family Funeral Service Highway 601 N, Yadkinville. A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday September 28, 2008 at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 2708 Buck Shoals Road, Hamptonville! with the Rev. Harold Salmons officiating. The family wishes to thank the staff of Yadkin Nursing Center and Mountain Valley Hospice for their care and concern during Carolyn' s illness.
