He was born in Forsyth County on April 18, 1959 to Arzie and Dorothy W. Matthews. Surviving are his wife, Leilani W. Matthews of the home; a daughter, Kacie Matthews of the home; a son, Thomas Matthews of East Bend; his parents, Arzie and Dot Matthews of East Bend; a sister, Mavis Dillon of Madison; and a brother, Ryan Matthews of East Bend. A memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 25 at Prospect United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mark Conforti officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a memorial fund to be set up for the children' s education, c/o Mavis Dillon, 3351 Hwy 311, Madison, NC 27025.
