He was born July 6, 1914, in Yadkin County to the late Thomas David and Bessie Ida Casstevens. Charlie was a World War II veteran and received several medals of honor. He was a musician and played in several bands. In his senior years, he played at senior functions and rest homes. He was an avid fisherman. He retired from Salem Music Co. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Beck Dicky Casstevens; brothers, Fred Lincoln Casstevens and Roy Richard Casstevens; sister, Ruby Lee Casstevens Oakes. He is survived by a son, C.J. Casstevens; two grandchildren, Jeremy and Josh Casstevens; two great-grandchildren, Jeffery Payne and Ethan Casstevens; sister, Irene Sizemore Pinnix; four brothers, Donald (Hazel) Casstevens, George (Ruth) Casstevens, Mitchell (Cora Lee) Casstevens, Frank (Marilyn) Casstevens; several nieces and nephews. His funeral will be conducted at 3 ! p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, at Gentry Family Chapel in Yadkinville, with the Rev. Ronnie Wooten and the Rev. Frank Wooten officiating, and full military honors by VFW Post No. 10346. Burial will follow at Boonville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. before the service on Tuesday, Jan. 15, at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville, which is serving the Casstevens family.
